seeds Old seed question

So I have some seeds set aside from 4 years ago, and I'm kind of curious how viable they would still be. They were stored in plastic bags in a cupboard indoors, so temp would have been stable at 70F and no UV or sunlight exposure whatsoever.

Anyone grow from old seed stock before? If so, what's been your experience on sprout rate?

I'll likely find out in a few weeks myself but just kind of curious, if I'll be wasting trays, soil and time.

I've used several seeds the last few years that were kept in my garage. The heat of summer gets hot and the cold of winter gets it cold. They were sealed in zip lock bags. After about 2 years the viability reduced some but I still get great results. I seem to always buy too many seeds!

Try it and plant backups!

These *are* the backups. I have a grand in seeds on the way from vendors but still coming up short on the spreadsheet. I went a little annuum heavier than I was planning to which have a denser plant out than chinense, so I'm coming up 20 rows short on my farm. That's why I'm dipping in to my old gardening supplies that I'd tucked away.

Was asking about viability because I have to fill that gap, but don't want to run out and buy even more seed than I have to.

Hell I spent less for 21 acres of soybean seeds than I have on a half acre of peppers!
