Chilidude season 2018

Last year was pretty much a disaster, the summer turned out to be a very cold and sunless thing, so i didnt get much of anything to eat and all my efforts did go to waste.

But i am willing to try again growing those chilis, so i am not giving up so easy.

I got two last year fully grown Hot paper lanterns, so they should produce some even if the summer is not so perfect, also will grow these from seeds:

Naga morich.
Bonda ma jacques.
Petenero.
Aji golden.
Aji erotica.(baccatum erotica)
Lemon drop.
Aji crystal.
Aji pineapple.
Queen laurie.
Locato.

This time around pretty safe chilis to survive cooler climates in my opinion, inside my greenhouse.

Man your grow looks great. Nice and clean, not cluttered up. Good little Garden of Eden. [emoji106][emoji41]

With the foresight to not put 10 Gallons of stuff in a Five Gallon bucket.

Perhaps 11 plants would have been more than enough for my greenhouse, because one of c.baccatum will end up cluttering the rest of the c.baccatum plants but i will try my best to string them all up to keep them nice and tidy.

It has been raining pretty good for a few days, so i got good supply of rainwater to water my chilis:

I like the looks of the Hesi coco hot paper lantern chili, as the leaves dont have the same suffering looks of the other c. chinense plants that i have been watering with the ghe floramicro/floramato combo:

Perhaps the Hesi coco is just more forgiving as a fertilizer even with the max dosage of 50ml/10litres of water compared to the Ghe.

Queen laurie in the middle is soon about to open it's first flowers:

Ghe fertilized Aji pineapple in the left and Hesi coco fertilized Aji lemon drop in the right:

Aji cristal opened it's first flower and lot of flowers incoming very soon:

I bet the Aji cristal will grow to be a massive plant as it is now little over the half way point from the 2 metre ceiling i have in the greenhouse.

Another round of picture from this morning:

My bride and joy, the Hesi coco hot paper lantern and used q-tip to transfer some pollen to the flowers from my baccatum plans, perhaps it will do the trick for some more early pods.

Aji cristal is now pushing plenty of flowers, so it is now only a matter of time when i see the first pods on this plant:

Really healthy plants ... do the airpots remain inside the floor containers or when watering you remove them for "run off" getting rid of excess nutrients

The real bottom of the airpots are around 5-10cm above the side of the container depending what high you set the inside piece. I empty the trays below the containers, when need be but i dont need to do it very often at all because some of the water will evaporate on it's own and the roots of the chili usually grow to the tray anyway to suck any extra run-off so not much is wasted.

Needless to say that i am in love with these air-pots, i think they are the perfect pots in coco coir growing and my chilis seems to agree too.

Plenty of flowers, all you need now is some real summer weather.

It is pretty much still mid summer here and the real summer heat comes much later in a month or so. For now the chilis are just waiting for the right moment to start pushing those pods when the weather is just right for them and that magical moment is always sight to behold.

Nice, healthy plants, and a very cool growing system you've settled on.

This was the most working growing method i found for myself because of our very challenging growing environment and now i only try to perfect it each year until i am satisfied.

Season 2017 was a disaster for me but as a reminder, this kind of horrible sight i had to deal with in the season of 2016:

These where grown with the Ghe floramicro/floramato combo+rainwater and when i said that the Hesi coco fertilizer have a really big shoes to fill, i really meant it.  I have a feeling that i will not get this much harvest this time around, but i will be more than satisfied if i get even half as much this year as there is a limit how much one person can eat peppers. :P

Those tomato clips you turned me on to are working out real well.

I ordered a bag of 500... case of 10k was backordered.

The backordered case of 10,000 showed up...

Problem is ... I was a dumbass, doubleclicked the order, so I got 21,000 of them now

Do you think airpots will work with peat moss ?

Sure it worked with peat moss, but the growing of the plant/harvest was not nearly as good when using pure coco coir as a growing medium. I only used peat moss in the first grow, when i got these air-pots so your mileage may vary using it and adding some perlite would surely enhance the growing medium as the peat moss tended to compact in the air-pots during the growing season.
