Chilidude season 2018

Last year was pretty much a disaster, the summer turned out to be a very cold and sunless thing, so i didnt get much of anything to eat and all my efforts did go to waste.

But i am willing to try again growing those chilis, so i am not giving up so easy.

I got two last year fully grown Hot paper lanterns, so they should produce some even if the summer is not so perfect, also will grow these from seeds:

Naga morich.
Bonda ma jacques.
Petenero.
Aji golden.
Aji erotica.(baccatum erotica)
Lemon drop.
Aji crystal.
Aji pineapple.
Queen laurie.
Locato.

This time around pretty safe chilis to survive cooler climates in my opinion, inside my greenhouse.

I must say the season have been pretty much the best i have ever seen as weather goes, lot of sun and very little rain:

Hot paper lantern have one of two pods hanging from the plant:

Both naga morich plants are pushing a lot of pods:

Both Petenero plants finally started doing pods, but late pod making is not a good one to have in my growing place:

The shape of the Aji erotica pod is all wrong and the color is not right, i guess it is one of those failed commercial hybrids:

I hope the taste of the pod is not a failure too.

Next year i was hoping to have one less aji plant, way too much to have six aji plants in one side alone:

Aji cristal is pushing many pods now:

Aji golden is doing it's best to grow towards the roof of the greenhouse:

I have lately noticed that one or two wasps have taken an interest towards pollunating my c.chinense plants, i do not like wasps that much but we can get along as long as it wont sting me.

I am also pretty much done with these different fertilizer tests, as it is not going to lead me anywhere but create more frustration, from now on i will use the ones that work well for me and are fairly priced, like the B'cuzz coco a+b for example.

Looking good. I moved a branch the other day and I guess there was a wasp up under there. It hurt bad enough that for a minute I was wondering if I was allergic to them. Lol. It went away after a few minutes.

Wasps are numerous in this time of the year, because they are bringing food on the table for the small ones and i will benefit from it in the end too.

Can you imagine what happened to the Aji erotica plant, when you get yellow pods and the shape is not right:

I brutally murdered the plant this morning to give more space/sun to the other pure bred plants. I got handfull of green pods out of the plant, so perhaps i do some stuff with those involving some eggs. Maybe next year i will finally learn that putting too much plants in side the greenhouse will not gain you more pods in the end, it will gain you less pods.

How is your pepper plant jungle doing these days up North, Chilidude? Are you swimming in pods by now? :) Hope you'll have plenty of time for ripening still before the cold comes in!

I got few pods alright, but i had too many plants inside the greenhouse that surely dropped down the overall pod production for all the plants and the Aji plants suffered the most, so next year 10 plants at max.

Both Naga morich plants are full of pods, so i will get plenty of them this season:

Even if i stuffed the greenhouse with way too many plants, i would say i might just get enough pods to get me by to the next season.

Beautiful pods and plants.
Are you in a race against time to ripen them?

It is always race against time here, perhaps i got another good month to go before i will have to start worry about that ripening time. If things get really ugly i will move the c.chinense inside and the c.baccatum can stay inside the greenhouse till they die.

Looking SO good! Huge plants and lots of poddage, you must be super pleased. :) We can thank the weather gods for having been on our side this summer, as that complemented your hard work very nicely!

I have a feeling you could eat a chili a day for the next year and still not run out...

I am not that pleased with the results of those Lemon drop/pineapple plants, but that is what you get when you overcrowd the greenhouse with plants and they get less light than other plants, thus the result is way less pods that they usually produce. Perhaps next year i will finally learn to control my habit of growing too much plants with limited growing place..

I still got bunch of frozen pods in the freezer from the harvest of 2016, so with these pods i am about to get from this year's plants will last many years to come.

I am happy to report that the newer formula of b´cuzz  coco a+b is working good and i really do not have any negative things to say about this fertilizer other than it being a two part fertilizer, overall is is quite cheap to use and it works for chili growing.

I have been planning next years grow list:

Hot paper lantern
Limon
Caribbean antillais
Habanero golden
Naga morich

I was planning to not top the c.chinense next year to see how will they grow and produce pods.

Aji golden
Aji norteno
Aji cito
Aji blondy
Aji fantasy

C.baccatum will be topped as usual as they are far too fast growing to not to be topped each year. I got all the seeds for the plants already so no need to buy some more.

The indoor growing of the plants wili be conducted with the usual growing methods and using the B'cuzz coco a+b fertilizer and ph adjusting of the water, i hope now the next year indoor growing will be more success than this year so-so indoor grow.

for the Limon, is that the same as Hot Lemon?  I grew these for the first time this year and LOVE LOVE LOVE them.  Fruity like a fatalli but not quite as hot -- SUPER good.

Limon C.chinense is the one i am growing next year and hot lemon usually means Lemon drop C.baccatum in my book.

yes -- the Hot Lemons (at least mine) are the c.baccatum or Aji's :)   YUMMY.

Ok, I Googled and maybe they are NOT Aji's (which I think are not as hot?).  Mine are pretty damn hot.  I'm so confused now.

is there anywhere on the site here that describes the different kinds of peppers?  I'm a noobie. :D

do you have a picture of the lemon c.chinense?

Temperature is lowering fast and i had to save most of the c.chinense and moved them inside few weeks ago:

I will get plenty of Naga morich pods.

The C.baccatum inside the greenhouse will not have the time to ripen most of the pods even if i warm the greenhouse but this is life unfortinantly.
