seeds Question for starting seeds early.

Hey everyone iv decided to start some plants from seed this year and i seem to have germinated a bit to many. I have 94 total planted in cells that are 1.5" square by 2.25" deep. I want to keep as many as I can till last frost so I can move them to a greenhouse. I have little space so I was wondering if anyone could give my any advice on how long I can leave my plants in the cells before having to put them in pots.I also plan to pluck out all the weak plants.

Usually after they get their first set of true leaves otherwise they can get root bound. You can try to slide a couple of them out to see what the root system looks but if you're starting to see a lot of roots when you slide them out, then it's time to repot them.

I may try that I want to try to keep a good amount of them.
I agree with using some solo cups. That will buy you some time. If you don't mind me asking, what are some of the peppers you are growing?

you can keep them in the cells indefinitely.
but they will be a bit harder to care for because they will drink water very fast.

if they get rootbound you will just have to cut / break up some of the roots on transplant. (not a big deal)

i know there will be naysayers so heres some 32mm coco plugs for too long:

Woahh lol how often do you have to water them
Keep in mind though that juanitos is a very experienced gardener. Do not expect these results unless you really know your stuff.

I'll second Juanitos.
I start indoors in January with just over 100 and have no root bound issues.

Were in Virginia are you?
Fredericksburg here.

I live in southwest virginia in a town called pulaski

Awesome - I know Pulaski. Use to pass it on my way to the Bristol Races back in my NASCAR days.

You are farther West than I am, so I am guessing your will have a later last frost than we will here. I still think you will be OK and can avoid any root bound. Do you have a target date to get them in the greenhouse? Any heat source in your greenhouse?
