soil Soil Blocking

Yes I would think that too. But seems larger farmers are using them for good reason. The second link I posted shows how he uses a capillary mat to water. It's new to me so I'm still learning a lot. It seems to solve a lot of problems I have with the germination stage. I'm going to demo them out this year. I had over 700 seedlings last year and a big problem I came across was root binding which made transplanting a slow and hard process. When I planted in cakes rather than small cells it takes a lot of work to keep up with the transplants since you have to catch them early before they get entwined. Soil blocks air prune the roots giving you more time to transplant and with less shock. I was looking into root training last year and bought a couple different units from the UK. They worked great. Just wondering about the soil Blocking they're doing over there as well.

I didn't get much response so decided to do 4 trays of soil block seedlings vs 4 trays of soil cake method to find out for myself which method I like. Also I tried a European root trainer. All with heat mats controlled by a herpstat. All methods are germinating like crazy after I added the herpstat. Had no clue temps were so sensitive with these superhots. So far I'm liking the soil blocks. See link above for pics.
