After buying a yard of sub-par compost I searched Craigslist and found this Whopper pile of free horse poop! Bout to go back for another load now while I have my dad's truck.

Finest kind! Is it well-composted or still full of ammonia? When I do apply it, I get the green horse manure and spread it on the garden in fall so it can mellow over the course of the winter. Did you know that in the days before industrial production of Ammonia they used to seal Limburger cheese up in watertight canvas and bury it in green horse manure to infuse it.

Sounds like I don't like limberger cheese lol.

It's mostly composted, some of the stuff on top is fresher, but definitely not green.

I meant to post pics of my thrown together raised beds the other day but I guess I didn't take any

Came out with a heafty pile!

The kids planted some marigolds and sunflowers

And they had these little kits for cucumbers and more sunflowers

Had to drill some holes in the bottom of these bamboo pots
