Walchit's Glog 2018

Well started germination yesterday, got a little carried away.

I'm too lazy to type out my list for you guys so here are some pics.

Sprouting these from Justin/whitehotpeppers

And these from the auction of labeled pods from Garth/texashotpeppers

Then there are these from trades and seed trains

I may have officially lost my mind! Thanks for stopping by.

I took some pics, it was late and some are bad but I wanted to show what I used. This shouldn't clog for a few years and if it does it's easy to clean out.

I use the same pump set up in the greenhouse for 22 dutch buckets, I had to cut down the pressure for these 14 containers.

I like this setup. I am not gonna have time to diy this one unfortunately.
I haven't counted but I am gonna need a few hundred emitters.

Those should work. Here are the ones I'm currently using. If you have a 1/2 line right next to your plant, it is easier to put them right in the main line and not use 1/4 tubing. Order extra valves in case your pressure isn't up to snuff and you have to create circuits for watering. Make sure your fittings are made for the inside diameter of your tubing. I use easy lock fittings, which are easy to use and can be removed and reused until your dog chews them up.

Nice I wish my Starbucks had a pile!

And Tristan, mine are still in pretty small pots. No room to transplant cause I started a bunch of annuums and tomatoes!

I hear ya man I'm in the same boat-kept popping seeds and couldn't get the heart to thin different species down as I don't know anyone here to give them to, let alone anyone that would actually appreciate it and at least try to grow them so container and garden real estate goes for a premium in my situation!
Just finally got a spot scratched out to actually put some of these tomatoes that grow like wildfire into the ground! At least that should contrast my expensive fabric container castle! I have over $160 just in medium without the bags! Gets expensive when ya go overboard like us passionate hobbyists do!

Free shit is always a good thing! I used to drive the tractor into town (7 miles), with the wife following me with a trailer to load up horse poo. I bet I put 20-30, maybe 40 yards into the garden. Coffee grounds have me pretty excited as my daughters best friend just opened a coffee shop. I need to get with her for sure, her business is cranking!

I have 3 bins, about a yard each mixed with leaves, cow poop, and re-ground wood chips to make them smaller, and anything else I can put in there. The key is to keep them damp, not wet, and turn the piles weekly, or they turn to ash. I can't seem to keep up with them; with everything else going on, so they tend to stall from drying out....
Can never have enough bins! I have found this out my first year here, so useful for mixing blending and making media! And yes free shit is king!! Can I expect real world benefits from the coffee grounds? What macros or Micros does it help supply?

I was thinking the white stuff was mycelium, I hope it's not Ash lol.

I made 2 rows today about 40 foot long. Used up most of the poop on them. I wish I had a tractor to load this shit!

Your garden is coming along awesome man, you must really be working hard on it, I know it's gonna come together nicely! So these rows:how did you make them and is the idea that the rain runs off the top of the row and that the roots grow into the raised compost soil/media? Have a similar plot now I need to know what to do with it! I can make more too if the first one works well as my landlord has a bobcat with tooth bucket. I still gotta see if I can get up on a tiller.

I just talked the rows and piled poop on them. Nothing has died so far lol. I was hoping the combo of poop and being raised up would help tho vs out with nutes and maybe not overwatering them. Idk one day they will be raised beds

Check and see if you have any local places that specialize in compost. Around here its about $25-36 a cubic yard if you pick it up and about $75 for delivery upto about 8-10 yards or so. Whatever fits in a tandem axle dump truck. Some place do blends if they offer other products like aged pine fines. 50fines/50compost should really loosen up that soil.

Tablecloths fell through so I had to spend 180 on weed mat

Started raining on me or I would have tried to do a border. Also didn't get finished between the two rows of tomatoes, but have 3 feet to each side of the plants at least.

180 on weed mat, bet that hurt!! I'm using good quality stuff this year but last year used cheapo and then put down straw. That worked really well and any weeds that popped were easy to pull. Straw can be really economical if you find a good source

That stuff in your pics looked nice! I bought some last year but I think it was 20 bucks for 50 feet. This was 54 for 300. It doesn't seem as good as the stuff I used last year but I didn't have time to order off of the internet. If I wouldnt have got this down the weeds would have taken over on my wife

It wasn't last year, but maybe 5 years ago I had made these mounded up rows and used dollar tree weed mat. I only put it on the rows but it hailed and punched holes in everything. When I got home from work the grass was as tall as the tomatoes. Didn't get much that year.

Looking really good guy! With solar mulch on top of my raised beds the water evaporation is slowed down a bit and 1/4 gal/hour drippers are adequate with a hose timer set for 20 minutes twice a day. When I was half-burying .5 liter water bottles next to the pepper plants and watering by hand, they took half a liter twice a day. The weed mat is probably more porous and would need more water.
