SKULLBIKER’S Let’s See How It Goes in 2018 GLOG

I thought that after a year off because I could barely walk(I have a new knee now that is working much better), that I would try to post another glog. Im not going super wild and Im using seeds saved or purchased from 2013 to 2015, with most of them from the older end of the range! Im going to try for 1 or 2 each on the super-hots and 2 to many on the more edible, table friendly peppers. As usual, I will go heavy on the jalapenos and cherry bombs. Anyway here is my list. (subject to change without notice)

Damn frost!
Your Glog has really been inspiring and helpful getting me out of the winter over here.
  to a great season so far.

Wow! If I may ask, what size pot, generally, are you using? Next year, my grow will be all container.
My transformation to my current container grow happened over the last three years and I think I have almost every size pot there is up to 30 gallon. This year I started to settle on one size, 18 gallon. If it will be a big plant in it like a tomato plant then just the single plant in it. Same with pepper plants that can grow large. Although, I have many containers with 2 and 3 plants in them. A 10 gallon pot is a good compromise for a single pepper plant even though I have several in 5 gal buckets, in a 5 gal they need to be watered, etc. more often and are tippy in wind if the plant is tall or very bushy. 5 gallon buckets work very well for veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc..

Yes, I hate the frost and really hate what comes after that(deep snow, -20F, etc.). Inspiring is not usually what is said of me,[emoji848], but thanks. I will keep an eye on how your season goes as mine comes to an end.

Very nice glog

Im interested to know if you had to top up the water levels / nutes in the Kratky buckets for the larger plants? If so, how often / him much??

Now that the plants are large(about 5 1/2 ft. tall and just as wide), I add about 2 gallons every second or third day. The very large tomato plant take 2 gallons per day.

Cool thanks for the info.
And I thought Kratky was a hands off method ;-)

Have you thought about rigging up a reservoir with a float valve to save yourself the admin?

It can be hands off if you have a big enough container/reservoir. I was going to do the float valve thing this year and even got many of the items needed but just did not get it done. I believe Peter S. here on THP has a video on the float valves.

I too dread the frost, have dodged that bullet twice now, "they" say (at 43 degrees it's hardly a threat). It is coming though.

Still working on a viable greenhouse plan. We had 40+ mph south winds the other day, stripped every damned apple off the Goodlands.

Beautiful grow, by the way...

Possible frost for my area tonite. Fingers crossed that it stays warmer. I just did a quick pull of a lot of the ripe stuff and put a big tarp over part of the grow. LET THE DICE ROLL

That kinda sucks. It’s getting to be that time of the year, must mean hunting season is coming soon. [emoji16]
Hopefully your plants survive. Our first frost average date is October 7.

Kratky superhots, cleaned of pods, clipped, and shoved out into the cold!⛄️ Freeze warning tonite.

Picked 3 grocery bags of superhots this afternoon, the plants as they say have now been literaly left in the cold.
