Hello all from N Europe

Hi all,

Happy to introduce myself, I'm J. I've been lurking around for a long time, reading all these wonderful posts of yours, browsing through the stuff accumulated during the years. Excellent stuff, and very nice people around here. It's a great thing you've got going here. Just looking at the Pepper people are the best thread, it's amazing! A community you are, really.

I'm located in Finland, north of Europe. Not the best place on the planet to grow chiles, but yeah it can be done. I started growing about 20 years ago, seeds that I got from some generic supermarket plants I bought, on balcony & window sill. Apache it was, and then there were some others, generic "red Dutch" or something. I always dried the pods and then used them in my cooking.

Last year I started eating chile fresh, and that was it. I was ready for growing my own, other than the generic supermarket stuff. I wanted tasty stuff, hot & mild. Now I've got lotsa stuff growing - annuums, baccas, chines, frutes, pubes. Let's see how it's gonna turn out. I'm looking forward to my 1st crop of the good stuff! (It's looking good by the way, there's not much natural light yet but I've got some LEDs going to keep'em alive until spring.)

Basically I know how grow, but I have limited experience in terms of the species and variants/strains and how they grow up and behave. I'm already noticing how different the species are in their growth habits and all. I've killed some - you know. I'm learning, gaining experience. It's exiting. And there's lots and lots of info on this forum to help me. I'm hoping to contribute to the forum in the future.

Welcome and Cheers!!  :welcome:
