How do YOU choose your keepers?

Hey all,

I'm sitting here potting up my keepers today and I figured I just throw this out there... What do you all look for when choosing which plants to pot up and keep for the season? Wondering if anyone has secret pro-tips to share, haha.

I look for:

- Color and shape/size of the leaves
- Overall size of the plant.

Happy growing!

This was my first time, but I kept the best looking plants with the biggest fruit, and just over all health of the plant. Here's one of my Carolina Reapers I decided to overwinter. I also have Caribbean red habenero

Those look great! Nice growing!

when deciding what seedlings to cull I just go by overall size, shape, discard plants with deformities and funky leaves. Sometimes there's nothing to decide so I just start chopping.

On seedlings, I use the Park Seed Bio Dome and I usually put a minimum of two seeds per cell.  If both seeds in a cell germinate, I will usually just choose the larger seedling unless the smaller seedling has some interesting traits that were not expected, like purple leaves, etc.  Each cell that germinates gets potted up.  I usually do 3 cells per variety so I would get a max of 3 plants per variety.

I pot up every plug that germinates.

I wait until plant-out to decide which plants to keep, and which to give away.

Usually go 2 seeds in a seed starter cell. Cull the smaller one as long as the larger doesn't have a deformation or off coloring.
