DaSauce 2018

Just getting started. Have just a couple sprouted sofar and waited to see if the others come up before moving on

Trying these for sure from seeds
Miraflores Market rocoto (yellow?)...2 up out of the 8 sofar..TGCM seeds
Peruvian Red rocoto..TGCM seeds
Peruvian Red mini rocoto..TGCM seeds
P. Dreadie SB....cant wait to get these going. Probably grow more and cut back on other habs depending on germination rate...TGCM seeds

Aleppo...replacing my gochu with these just because i cant grow enough gochu for the massive amounts of powder needed for kimchi. I can buy the gochugaru but not good Aleppo powder locally......Ed's seeds

Sandia Select....Didnt get many pods last year but what i got were really large. Using the seeds from those pods....Original seeds from Midwestchilhead.

Changing up my Ajis a little to a couple varieties i never tried before.
Aji Limo Rojo...TGCM seeds
Aji Arnaucho...TGCM seeds
Aji Panca....CCN seedlings

A few "seasoning peppers". Seedlings from CCN....Probably:
Trinidad Perfume
Aji Dulce 1

Brazilian StarFish
Jamacian Gold (annuum)
Szechwan

Jalapenos:
Mucho Nacho...gunna try some from my seeds and another Bonnie seedling...REALLY loved this variety
Chichimeca...seeds from last years pods....REALLY loved this variety
Farmers Market....always wanted to try these for kicks...TGCM seeds

Still searching for:
Big Jim Heritage....Prefer seedlings
Biker Billy...Prefer seedlings...CCN is not offering them this year.
Hot bell..ANTEP ACI DOLMA

MOA reds are looking nice but got a little algae on 2. They LOVE the fixture with the 6500K and 8000K bulb.

4 P. Dreadies are doing ok. Not as big as the MOA reds yet but i think they will be fine.

My MiraFlores Market rocoto is a tiny bit unhappy atm.

Aji Arnaucho are starting to get some real leaves.

Out of 16 jalapenos (4 varieties) the Farmers Market came up first. Ive got 3 tiny "Shepherd hooks" just breaking the surface.

One mucho nacho F2 looks like its coming up today also. I would swear i can see growth daily from the MOA reds from MWCH.

EDIT: looks like it was 4 FMs so under the lights they went

Needed some stuff at Costco and decided to take a quick look in the seasonal garden supplies. I didnt see this last year

$11.99 for a 10lb bag. Its almost double that price anywhere else locally

They also had gallon jugs of BONIDE neem oil spray for $20 but it was premixed and i didnt know if that was a good price or not.

I was just at Costco yesterday and must have missed the EWC.  Bummer.  I'll have to tell the wife to slow down so I can browse more in the future

Nice plant tag(flag) lol

You know what grinds my gears?

A small ass bag of Dr Earth alfalfa meal or whatever the hell its called is $3/lb or more but at local feed and garden center a monster 50lb bag is under $20. That same feed and garden center had MycoStim for just under $20 for a nice sized bag. Seriously, this place looked like it was right outta hillbilly junction inside but the prices rocked.

That same damn bag is nearly $30 on Amazon. Even Walmart online is over $33 a bag for it.

WTF!!!!

And yes i feel better now. :D

Yeah, ya gotta shop ;)  I find the best deals locally just before Christmas @ Wally-world. Paid 5 bucks a 2cu' for Promix, and $4.50 a gallon for Alaska fish ferts.

Plants look great, so keep it green, and have a fun/great season!

All 4 Biker Billy seeds sprouted. So, outta 16 seeds only 3 of my Chichimecas did not sprout yet.

MOAs are looking pretty good. One on the left has some odd leaves but it took forever to lose its helmet. Middle one has been nearly perfect from day 1 and will be saving the seeds from it.

Wider than tall which works great for me atm under these lights.

P. Dreadies are hangin in there. Gave them a shot of some worm tea right after the pic. Tiny bit of leaf curl.

Vietnamese coriander i saved in the nick of time last year
0xVzy2W.jpg

3 MWCH MOA reds, 1 of Eds Aleppos and another coriander clone.
Ebli3Ro.jpg

The runt of the 3 MOAs went in the window a few days before the others and its almost caught up.
MDSWgCb.jpg

More heading to the window sills today. Got the first rocoto moved. Probably move some P. Dreadies and Aji Arnaucho next once i get them into the solo cups. The peat pots dry out way too fast in the upstairs windows. 3 more Aleppos are super close too. That should give me enough room for some late starters.

I got a feeling this one is gunna be a beast of a plant.

The MOA red "runt" has caught up and the Mini Red is looking really nice for its size

The P. Dreadies are perking up now. Leaves on all 4 of these have been really dark even under the T8s
mMG5AwP.jpg

The Aji Arnaucho are doing fine but they wont shake this leaf curl and they too have dark splotches. They got to this size and then just stopped under the T8s but otherwise seem healthy. They were in peat pots and ProMix that dried out fast too. The rest of the green color looks like it could use a little nitrogen.

This Miraflores is giving me fits. Its starts to perk up then looks like its struggling again. New foliage looks fine then some of it wilts.

The Aleppos also started in the peat pellets did just fine.

My CCN seedlings are enjoying some sun on the deck. The mid 60Fs don't seem to be bothering them at all.

Well the seeds from store bought Fresno germinated great. Glad i tried them because 2-3 other varieties are giving me fits using the same methods. I think 1 of the Sandia Selects from last years pods might be coming up too. I only tried 2 just in case the others fail again.

A local grower says he has a couple Antep Aci Dolmas he can spare. They are just sprouts but they will have to do.

I am growing 6 anteps this season from seeds through moruga welder.

Hoping they flourish as we want to try making chili relanos(sp?) With them.

Good luck with those stubborn seeds...nice that the store bought Fresno seeds sprouted.

I am trying to get some store bought Manzanos to sprout. Nothing so far though.

I loved these Fresnos from the market. They had a nice amount of heat (upper jalapeno) but not as sweet as a ripe jalapeno. They really wake up a plate of nachos. :D

Got Sandia Select, Big Jim Heritage and a Bell Gollu to germinate in peat pellets. Might have another one of each too. Moved them in solo cups and Promix.

The window crowd all got their first shot of CNS17 Grow 3-1-2 using rain water. I mixed it slightly weak at around 1.5gal and tbs of the CNS17.

My 2 best P Dreadies have started to kick it in gear.

The Aji Arnaucho are going now too and lost the leaf curl. Most of the foliage color now looks pretty normal.

They look like this in the damn peat pots and nothing seems to improve it other than removing the peat pot.

Ed's Aleppos and MWCH MOA reds have been great since day one.

This is my problem child. A Miraflores market rocoto. I have to leave it alone until im 100% sure it needs water. Its looking better. The pic was taken a few minutes after watering. It had just the tiniest amount of "water me droop" before. The new foliage looks pretty good now. The other i started late looks fine starting it in ProMix. Small but the leaves all look good.

And last but not least a Mini Red Rocoto. I have more that went in the windows later but this lil guy is starting to stretch its legs.

Oops almost forgot the "cheaters" from CCN. They got just a tiny bit of sunburn from being on the deck too long.
