DaSauce 2018

Just getting started. Have just a couple sprouted sofar and waited to see if the others come up before moving on

Trying these for sure from seeds
Miraflores Market rocoto (yellow?)...2 up out of the 8 sofar..TGCM seeds
Peruvian Red rocoto..TGCM seeds
Peruvian Red mini rocoto..TGCM seeds
P. Dreadie SB....cant wait to get these going. Probably grow more and cut back on other habs depending on germination rate...TGCM seeds

Aleppo...replacing my gochu with these just because i cant grow enough gochu for the massive amounts of powder needed for kimchi. I can buy the gochugaru but not good Aleppo powder locally......Ed's seeds

Sandia Select....Didnt get many pods last year but what i got were really large. Using the seeds from those pods....Original seeds from Midwestchilhead.

Changing up my Ajis a little to a couple varieties i never tried before.
Aji Limo Rojo...TGCM seeds
Aji Arnaucho...TGCM seeds
Aji Panca....CCN seedlings

A few "seasoning peppers". Seedlings from CCN....Probably:
Trinidad Perfume
Aji Dulce 1

Brazilian StarFish
Jamacian Gold (annuum)
Szechwan

Jalapenos:
Mucho Nacho...gunna try some from my seeds and another Bonnie seedling...REALLY loved this variety
Chichimeca...seeds from last years pods....REALLY loved this variety
Farmers Market....always wanted to try these for kicks...TGCM seeds

Still searching for:
Big Jim Heritage....Prefer seedlings
Biker Billy...Prefer seedlings...CCN is not offering them this year.
Hot bell..ANTEP ACI DOLMA

I am growing 6 anteps this season from seeds through moruga welder.

Hoping they flourish as we want to try making chili relanos(sp?) With them.

Good luck with those stubborn seeds...nice that the store bought Fresno seeds sprouted.

I am trying to get some store bought Manzanos to sprout. Nothing so far though.
I have some Antep seeds coming and I'm uber excited about trying them next year. Chile relleno sound delish! Maybe with a bunch of Monterey Jack.

Your plants are killin' it right now, DaSauce! I'm excited to try Ed's Aleppo next year, as well. Yours look great! Awesome job!

I keep checking Fords and every time i get to checkout it says the Antep seeds are not in stock. When i called he said they would be in by now. Puckerbutt had some and a place in Australia called chilli-seedz had some. I will get some from Fords when he has more if im not happy with the seedlings i should be getting soon. Its been hard hooking up with this guy since he moved 90 minutes away.

The germination issues im having with the others i really wanted is driving me nuts. The vendor has a very good reputation on here. I really did want the Antep though so there is hope. Plus i got a few more that might still pop.

FINALLY!!!!!

I got 5 Tekne Dolmasi to sprout and 1 Bell of Lebanon. Moved the Dolmasi's into ProMix. Left the bell in the paper towel to see if it will shake off its helmet first. It looked like if just popped. The other 5 looked they they had already started growing. All but 1 had shed its helmet.

My Antep seedlings might be delivered Sunday too.....Pepper Stress!!!!

Woohoo!!!! C'mon Sunday!!!!! Congrats on the others that are sprouting and hooking. The bell of Lebanon looks interesting.

Mucho Nacho seedlings came in at Lowes so thats covered. Pretty nice looking too. My F2s are still tiny and more of just an experiment to see how they turn out.

Picked up a ghost pepper at the farmers market just for grins. Its hard to pass up a nice looking $2 seedling.

Pics added of the "cheaters" :D

2 Bonnie Mucho Nacho and the BloomIQ ghost. The mater is a hybrid cross of a San Marzano and Cream Sausage. (paste maters). Waiting for it to warm up a tiny bit more before they go out on the deck.

Getting ready for up potting Monday. High of 82F today and sunny so they all got a little Alaska fish emulsion and an hour or so of full sun before going under the shade cloth.

Seemed like a good time for a group pic or two.

Got all my largest ones in fabric pots and 1 in a bucket. Still giving them a little shade just to be safe although the largest P. Dreadie seems to be digging lots of sun.

One crazy looking heirloom mater. At first glance i swore it was a pepper but the stem is not like a pepper.

No idea. I went to the greenhouse because the guy said he had some romas cheap. I got there and he didnt so he gave me a free mater. He just called it a heirloom. Im also growing a Burpee Big Mama and a Marzinera (San Marzano/Cream Sausage hybrid). Both paste tomatoes.

This post literally just improve my life, because I have Ed's aleppo's as well, and I lost them among my Pueblo chiles and carnival blend sweet peppers, and made an intoxicated mistake of mislabling one of my Peppers, it unfortunately had to be the Aleppos; at least now I have a picture to compare to and I have a couple awfully close looking Peppers to those which should be the Aleppos!

Also a lot of our plants have that similar healthy look! Check it out :measures

The Aleppos are also the back 4 from the left in the first pic i just posted. Far right is a MOA Red.

Tall and pretty big leaves for a annuum this age. I started them a bit later than the chinenses.

Got this raised bed mix delivered for $32 per yard plus delivery.

And moved a bunch into this...So the jalapatch is done. Test subject "Bell of Gollu" is in the fabric pot with SLC's Growers Mix.

1 MOA Red (top) and 4 Aleppo in their semi permanent spots. Man do they look nice too.

"Shade bags" are set mostly to shade the pots for now. L-to-R...2 Dreadies, my best MOA Red and a Ghost.
uSPa8vQ.jpg

A few backups and late starts...2 Fresno from market pod seeds, 2 Mini Reds and 2 Bell of Lebanon. They will all be going out to harden off after the storms pass.

Later start mini red rocoto in the fast draining mix....Its seems happy.

Tiny pod on another that looks more like it will have the correct shape and form.
MyJlJnK.jpg

None of my Dreadies have produced a flower yet. Ive got these 3 separated from all the rest
bK6TtR4.jpg

Pretty much all the rest have either flowers or pods now

Brazillian Starfish is covered in them although its hard to see in this pic.
MlhEYEj.jpg

Chichimeca almost has one large enough to eat

My P. Dreadie bonnets have 1 pod and ive got 5 plants.

This Aji Arnaucho is loading up too. Crazy thing loves the heat and drops hardly any flowers.

fyo9uoo.jpg

Jamaican Gold aka mushroom or squash pepper although the shape is wrong. CCN might have screwed me again. It sure appears to be an annuum btw and not a member of the hab family.
0XQS99y.jpg

My mystery pepper that appears to be a Naga Morich cranks them out too.
W29jlw4.jpg

None of the mild chinense seasoning types or Anaheims have produced a pod unless ive just missed them. The Aji Panca did have a very short bout with aphids i knocked out very fast and none have returned. The ants have even left it alone now. I put the Aji Dulce in some shade but the problem does not appear to be flower loss. It just doesn't seem to be ready. Same with the Trinidad Perfume. Both look fine just no pods yet.

If the mystery plant is Naga morich, you could do a lot worse but let's see what the color of the pod ends up being in the end.
