Way back when my Darlin' Bride & I first signed up for Costco I bought a large bag of Starbucks for the sole reason that it was $6 off. Got it home and found it tasted like it was 6 years past it's due date. Super burnt and bitter. Later on my sister told me that they love to burn their beans...
Exactly

Coffee can be bitter if you grind the wrong size for your machine. Sometimes it takes some tinkering. Overextraction will cause bitterness, which would be, if you ground too fine. Underextraction, it would be flavorless (too coarse). Getting it just right takes some time but a lot of times you alter this with your grind size and the roast is not actually to blame. If you think it's too bitter go coarser.

I use a pour over that actually prefers "sea salt size" coarse, and it really makes a difference. It was wayyy too fine before. Now I have the blend (local roasted) and grind down to perfection (you have to consider the combo, one size does not fit all).

In my cheapazz ways, I just use a reusable Kcup basket or strainer or whatever they’re called. I use whatever ground coffee I have at the time.

Thanks again, ever-a-boday! You know, I could have done my own interweb searches, but this is far more enjoyable, besides giving you guys the impression that I highly value your opinions! :high:
Boss, I've been hand grinding my own beans for about ten years, so roger on that grind size. It is a precise science....
