seeds Paper towel germinating

I have some cayenne pepper seeds in a paper towel and sandwich bag. Some are starting to grow tails. My questions are how long do I let them grow before I plant them in potting soil? How deep should I plant them? Should I worry about the seed head?

How long are they now? I have found to have better luck if I wait until the 'tails' are at least 5mm and as long as 1cm. Sometimes when I plant seeds with tails only 2-3mm, they don't sprout. But as long as they tails seem pretty strong and not weak then they should be fine.

I've got one I'm trying to see if the cotys go ahead and come out of, I had mixed results planting sprouts, probably not keeping it wet enough while the roots we're developing, idk

I have 1 that’s about 13 mm or 1/2” a couple more are shorter about 6mm or 5/16” long.
This is my first time using this method.

There were no sprouts breaking through the dirt when I checked them this morning. I started digging around in the dirt and found them growing [emoji16]. So I covered them back up. By the end of the day 1 was about to make an appearance.

Patience is a virtue in growing chiles.
Yes it is. Only took about a week for it to break free. I’m 1 for 2 so far. [emoji16]
I also found an old heating pad (aches and pain type) that I’ve been trying to get to regulate a good steady temperature with. I found that low setting and 2 shop towels will keep the temperature at about 75* F.
I might figure this game out after all[emoji851]
