Dragonfruit and strawberries and poor mans pickled sausage.

Carved out time to make a sauce today as well as pickle some store bought sausage.

Sauce first. No weights some measurements.

Sausage was Hillshire Hot Smoked variety. It has a bit of jalapeno mixed in. I added onions, some Lemon Drop x Bhut Jolokia, salt, fresh cracked black pepper, white vinegar and the tinniest bit of water.

Honestly, it's pretty bland. I've heard it described as a weak or bland kiwi. It lends itself well to pairing with fruits in my opinion because I think it brings a balance and a little depth when paired.

Poor man's sausage my friend. As in I didn't grind and stuff the sausages myself.

Oh it's expensive here as well! 5$ a fruit!!

wow what is dragonfruit like?

Nice texture but bland.  For the price it's not a good snacking fruit but it has it place in applications like this if you want my opinion.

Just tried my first dragonfruit, it was a red flesh variety. It was 5.99 and also tasted like a bland kiwi. Pretty cool though
