Disaster Strikes

Propped open the lid to let the little sprouts get some son and air.  A gust of wind launched the box and all its contents.  I was able to find one sprout out of a dozen, no idea which variety it is.  The older plants were savable.  :tear:

Hopefully you will be able to salvage most of your plants.

We had 20+ mph gusts yesterday, and I had the lid propped open the ideal way for a superior, glorious launch into space.  Probably could have put a cinder block inside to keep it grounded.  I was able to salvage all plants except the sproutlings.  found only one, and I believe it is a Coyote Zan White.  My Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpions are lost, as are the Red Bhuts I started from my own seeds.  I still have some seeds for the red bhut, and will get to that again soon.  Temps dropping into the mid to low 30's tonight, so I am dragging stuff into covered quarters.  Press On!

Yep. I once had several hundred mature plants knocked over and unearthed by my three large mastiff dogs chasing a squirrel. That really sucked. At least you have plenty of time to start over.

Are you sure a football didn't come over that fence and do the damage?

Pretty sure.  We get Lacrosse balls coming in regularly from the other direction.  Sometimes like an Easter Egg Hunt, find 15 to 20 of them.  Neighbor still owes me some fence slats.

So I stopped by H@me Dep@t yesterday to get some potting soil to replant stuff, and they had a 5 for $15 sale on Burpee assorted goodies.  Took the shameful short-cut and picked up 3 Red Bhuts and 2 hot Thai plants.  It was a therapeutic act, seriously...please forgive me....

Hm, sounds like I may need to pay a visit to home depot. I've never seen bhuts in stores.

Another frost last night, but we should be warming up now.  Yes, HD has them in our city, but you never know what you will find elsewhere.  Had the last of my seeds retained from 2017 to start another batch with, and we'll see what happens.  Seeing a lot of flower buds on the Habs started from seeds last year, and the over-winterings.  The Fresnos also are producing pods, so I hopefully got the calcium deficiency thing thwarted.

Sad times. I have a coyote Zan white seedling that's not quite about to form true leaves, I can post a picture if you want to compare the seedling you saved

Thanks, but it didn't make it.  Just going to focus on what survived, and replenish with what sees I have for other varieties.  Now the weather is warm and it is pouring rain.  Everything is looking good and growing, so now it MUST be time for the bugs to show up!
