YAMracer754 work in progress GLOG

Ok.... so I have been meaning to start this for quite some time but finally got things to a point where I feel I can have my grasp on most things pepper and have brought my peppers up, buying things as I go as funds dictate and the chiliboys+girls keep growing up. Not ideal approach, I know, but gotta start somewhere! If I were $$loaded it would be a little easier but $ doesn't replace research and knowledge!

I'm growing indoors until I can take them outside and will grow some in large containers, a few airpots, and the rest in raised beds. Probably flower a few inside to use my new Folux light (courtesy of PexPeppers!) Am thinking of switching to a more coco based medium as the peat seems to not allow so much airflow as I would like but open to suggestions. I'm currently in promix bx blended with fox farms Ocean forest, and upon up potting have added lots of perlite as in the beginning I was getting too much compaction and I was also having the overwatering problem(which I have now corrected).

I started some on 2/7 and some on 2/27 (from Seed) and here's where I am now and here's where I was before. I have upgraded light to 130w folux from a crappy Amazon ufo led {30w actual draw-was good for seedlings and about it}.

I really Need to know which Soil-Hydro frets to buy-bang for buck I'm looking for 1 or 2 at most products to 'K.I.S.S.' approach. So between some of these do you have any knowledge/experience: Masterblend, GH Maxigrow+maxibloom, CNS17, or any of the dynagro products? Or maybe something I haven't heard of? Currently have GrowBig fox farms for supplemental but not a very well balanced profile for growing peppers from what I gather (6-4-4), looking to cover P-K, calcium, and nominal amount of N. I have Epsom salt already if I detect Mg deficiency.

The first pics are from March 2, then March 9-12 transplanting, (notice the algae and growth problems) and here is where I'm at now. Almost thinking it's time to uppot again-they're in 3.5" and 4" nursery containers respectively, and have more seedlings growing in cell trays from Seed from Edmick.

What I'm growing: Hab red Caribbean, Hab chocolate, 1 tepin made it from Seed, bhut jolokia, 3 yellow Devils, a couple Habanero lemons still in tray, some different tomatoes, reapers, jalapeño temprana(early girl jpens), birds eye, different bell/sweet peppers. Few others failed to germinate so I won't list them, and I'm germing aleppos, bad brains, aji citizens, and aji mango. Looking forward to suggestions/questions/comments from all you fellow chileheads!

Been a long time without an update again, but here's where things are.. Have spent so much time being overwhelmed by the bountiful harvests every few days and what to do with them as u spent too much time researching and learning how to grow like a pro and not enough time spent learning how to process like a pro! Been a hell of a journey but that's what it's about I suppose, right!? I guess my deep freeze will be putting in some work until I lean the hot sauce game and pepper jams, although I have been learning and doing canning on other veggies so far with success just haven't canned any peppers.. Not sure of what are good recipes.. My new Dehydrator been getting heck of a workout as well.. Still figuring out how far to go with dehydrating as far as storage, crispy, too moist, etc, etc..

Ill post pics of the garden and containers tomorrow as I just got done harvesting pounds of peps! Didn't even get to an 8th of my plants but, oh well.. Tomorrow.. Got 174 deep red ripe reapers off this one 3-branched smaller plant in a 3 gallon fabric pot not even 2/3 full after decomposition in the coco! 6ft aji cito gave me 2lbs I didn't even count as it would be way too many and a pound of aji charapitas filling up a cool whip container-once again many hundreds!
Garden is in desperate need of some harvesting in order to produce some more peps as all the nodes are full with ripe peppers! Things going good just struggling at how to process now and to come the giant bounty of pounds and pounds of peppers! The 2 PDN/BMJ are about 5.5ft tall and are truly beastly and still have a solid 2months growing season. Also planting fall crops at the moment like rare purple carrots and radishes, broccoli, Brussel sprout, and looking for some wild bean seeds!

So half my pdns turned white/ivory colored! Things are going along well, just really chomping at the bit to keep up with processing everything, and trying to make "the right choices" as to how I process everything! Been trying to can and make a big batch of hot sauce every night, along with keeping the dehydrator full 100% of the time, as well as fermenting-still haven't pickled anything not confident in what to do with that.. Made a Chiltepin sauce from 2lbs of fresh, reaper/rhc sauce, aji cito ferment sauce, Jay's peach ghost ferment sauces 2 ways, crazy harvest blend sauce with a mix of a whole daily harvest, and just keep on trucking! Got a couple pounds of aji charapita as well :) Excuse the two dead pear tomato plants in the pic I'm gonna take em down soon here.

Your plants are loaded down!
5.9lbs reaper off of 1.5 plants! Still got like 4 or 5 in the garden yikes! The purple peppers are PDN bmj by the way. I pulled about 3lbs Jay's peach ghost from 1.5 plants too! I should have started harvesting earlier, I'm literally overloaded with the processing game! Freezing, fermenting, dehydrator(s) hasn't shut off in 2 weeks and just got another 2 add on trays for one..

You are definitely growing like a pro, Tristan! Those purple PDN crosses
really stand out in you pepper plantation! Really podded up nicely, too.
Looks like a banner season for you, my friend! Good work...

Even though it's my first veg garden I literally took it from hobby to stress inducing with all of the internal pressure to succeed or have only just 'moderate results' was intense, spent well over a hundred hours reading and researching every single day to learn every niche aspect of Chile growing and plant nutrient requirements, soil amending, media making, all the Chem and organic methods, troubleshooting from seed->seedling->adolescent->prime->full mature fruit loaded plant (glad I got to the last part)! Compost teas, Hydro nutes, different choices, changes, and selections of said items through the season. Not to mention learning and dealing with IPM and pest occurences! Glad it really was a production powerhouse-but as I've said many times on here-I spent all my energy, lifeforce, concentration, motivation, etc focusing on making the biggest strongest production plants, suncharting, etc; and not fully comprehending the level of processing I was going to have to deal with!! I was far behind on my game in that regard. Luckily I've grown other plants before to produce, and am a lifelong science fan and went to school for it.

I will do a much better job next year, and also have less work involved in the growing aspect as I now can grow them prolifically with my eyes closed without even thinking, so I can spend more of my resources on storage, processing, preservation, etc.. 2nd set of hands would be killer! I've done all the daily fertigating, processing, harvesting, grow room, all that without a full time set of second hands! It's work no doubt-mad respect for everyone on here doing the grow game!

You guys have been a hell of a community and knowledge research-wouldnt have had the success without some of the quick reply troubleshoot for unique issues on here and all the archived posts! The information is there it's just up to you to read and analyze it! I'll put some more pics today as I've really been pulling some crazy loaded plants for harvesting and I no longer have "rows" in my garden, more of a "field", as everything got so TALL AND weighted, even with stakes-that many fell over and laying on each other LOL

And Paul:yes the PDN crosses are a beautiful addition to a pepper garden-especially with the growth habits and just overall beastliness!! Grew stouter and taller and meaner looking, even after getting many months late to the garden than everyone (the plants) else! Beginning of July I believe!

Yeah and that's not all of them! I made puree with 1.5lb of em and a lb of ghosts! Same situation w/ choc Habs! Next season I will definitely be more aware of fruits:plants ratio, and on a variety of superhots WITH MORE sweet n uniques! First times are fun LOL

Yeah you killed it this year for sure. My plants just started setting a shit ton of nice pods, unfortunately it snowed last night so I picked probably a thousand unripe pods. Next year I hope for a less brutal july, or drip irrigation and shade cloth.
