Welcome to the forum. I make my own sauce
Today I'm actually going to make a roasted tomatillo and green baccatum sauce and see how it goes.
Pinch of salt, little garlic, little lime. Only enough vinegar to make the pH good.

Edit:Alright NYC, I see your favorite pepper is the habanero, I hope we can expand your horizon and turn you into a seed hoarding maniac like the rest of us.

My favorite might be habanero, but that doesn't mean that not all I like! I'm in Korea right now I've just fallen in love with this pepper called "Chenyeong Pepper." It's spicer than a jalapeno, but milder than a habanero. It's about 10,000 scovilles and it's delicious!!

BrochachosHS,

Don't paint 'em all with the same brush.. to each his own I reckon..  (from a southern vinegar style producer..)  Coming out swinging eh? Send some samples around and lets see what ya got. You will get brutally honest feedback from folks here..  :welcome:

I'm not just from New York! I'm from Austin Texas, so I got some home pride in Yellowbird! I totally get it. Please change my mind! Whats a good southern vinegar sauce? or what's your brand? I'll definitely try it out!

Who ever said Tabasco is the uniform Favorite?

I have been enjoying some excellent member sauces, but Tabasco will always have place on the shelf.

Here's a thread to wet your pallet for some unique sauces.

http://thehotpepper....-them-for-sale/

Nah, it's no one's favorite. It's just the classic hot sauce the one everyone has in their pantry and all the restaurants have in stock.

Yellow bird is pretty good, I've been thru a couple squeeze bottles.

Anything from Lucky Dog blows it off the shelf though.

I've tried a lot of sauces, but not Lucky Dog yet. Haven't seen it any or my local shops.

+1 for Lucky Dog Hot Sauces

They were really an eye opener for me as to what commercial hot sauce could be.

an introduction to artisanal hot sauce condiments if you will.

That being said, I have enjoyed many many sauces here from Hobby Sauce :hotsauce: makers, that blow most of the commercial competition out of the water  :onfire:

like Wow

If i were given only the choices of common table sauces at restaurants here, I would choose Cholula over Tabasco and even thats just meh.

i will not put that yukytaco / yucateco stuff anywhere near my food. As it taste like what i imagine salty paint would taste like to me   YUCK  :!:

Okay, so everyone is saying lucky dog. What's special about it in particular? I guess I just a huge fan of the texture that they add into Yellowbird.

Since you asked this is one of my fave sauces: http://www.benitosho...duct/poto-rojo/

You can also get some ideas here: http://thehotpepper....awards-winners/

Thank you mister hot!

Im sorta hooked on a couple from Marie Sharps simply because of cost. A local store has it for under $3 a bottle. Some of hers though are way too salty (400ish mg salty). Cholula aint bad either for cheap but their chipotle is way too mild. BliS Blast is killer if you want something you can use like ketchup. Its just insanely expensive.

In defense of Tabasco i do get the jalapeno when its on sale and the habanero too.

Haha, no shame in Marie Sharp even if they are cheaper! They're great!

Son, there are people here that have spilled more sauce than you've eaten.. Lol welcome to THP buddy.

You'll have to come join me and my buddies and do some shots of hot sauces then ;)

Thanks man!!! Y'all are great!

I think you will find that most regulars here go way deeper than Tabasco or yellowbird. Most here, myself included think of them more in terms of a seasoning like salt and pepper than a legitimate way to add heat.

What I stock regularly

Crystal hot sauce is my go to for that salty vinegar taste.

Grace scotch bonnet is a great inexpensive sauce. Can pick it up at any grocery store around here for around 3$ pretty much tastes like straight up scotch bonnet. Slightly less heat than a fresh mild pod.

Sriracha- again more of a seasoning

I usually have one or the other of the following. Both awesome on eggs
High river
Tears of the Sun. Great tropical fruity sauce.

Or

pickapeppa hot mango sauce. Also huge tropical fruit flavour with nice hum of heat.

These days if I am just looking for heat to get my attention I step it up to powder or flake.

Mhm, I can't deny the fruity sauces are really delicious! Blueberry based sauces are fing insane!

I'm on these green Danny cash sauces right now, they aren't the hottest but I really like the flavor

Hey, can't just focus on the heat now can you? That said gotta try that one out!

I think you hit it right on the head.
Tabasco used to be my favorite, I still use it on my hard boiled eggs. My eyes and palette have be opened up to a big new world since joining THP.
Still have a place for Tabasco in my heart and fridge.

Lucky Dog focuses much more on flavor rather than heat. They are expertly crafted and well-balanced sauces. I favor his Black Label sauce myself.

If you want to try a fruit-based sauce that is still really versatile, I suggest Heartbreaking Dawns 1498 sauce. Trinidad Scorpion, Scotch Bonnet, apricot and blueberry based sauce. Nice fusion of sweet and savory notes. Medium heat. It is a tasty sauce that works well on many different foods. Or get the Cauterizer version if you like it hot. It is the same sauce as the 1498 but with more Scorpion peppers in it.

Lucky Dog has amazing sauces. I tried all of them at an expo and they were all good. Not sure if they put out any new ones since I tried them but they know what they're doing.

I'm not a fan of the regular green or red, but have you tried the black label reserve? It's actually pretty good. It's not my favorite sauce by any means, but for about $2.50 at the local super mercado, it's hard to beat imho.
