Bhuter's 2018 Glog

Hello everybody! I'm late again to the adventures of pepper growing. Seeds didn't hit the towel until March 6, so I have some still below, some hooks, and some little plants. Not too much to look at right now but how about a growlist.

And here's the whole lot. I don't have much room...just what I can fit under a card table.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm a little late to the show and getting back with all of you guys as well. I see a lot of new people, we have had some very weird weather here in western NY, so I imagine that due to the weather being so off, I may not be as late as I thought I may be. Here's to a great grow, you have a nice looking list bud.

Welcome back, Alex! That's what I'm hoping for...that my plants will be big enough to go out when the weather finally allows. I didn't start until March 6. About a month later than usual. I think yours will be fine! I get surprised every year by my late starts. Thanks!

I made sauce last year with just vinegar salt and peppers. Also added pineapple to one. This year I'm gonna get creative. I have 8 cases of woozies, and a bunch of peppers I canned with salt and vinegar, but last time I cooked some sauce down I ran the wife and kids out of the house, and it even started making me cough. The first batches I made weren't that bad

Oh yeah, been there too. Several times. Funny story. My Dad is about to be 83, in June. We were all there, my 2 brothers, my sister, my Dad and all our wives/husbands, this is about 5 years ago. Drinking beer buckets, um, apparently too many. The band will just killer. My brothers, quite buzzed, doing a silly around the world arm swing with their beers. My older brother (I missed this part watching the band rock) dumped beer all over himself. My Dad, about 78  then, thought the gal next to him poured beer on his head. So he dumps his beer on her head. First time I saw the old man buzzed, and I could tell more stories about him doing 8 shots and never breaking stride. So the next thing I see is him buying shots for everyone...

Put-In-Bay is a must visit for misbehavers :shh:

Still catching up here....and stuck on partying while in Ohio...LOL

I prefer to use the supers in a puree, but I like to mix in some lower heat peppers to balance the flavors.

At the bottom of this link is a puree recipe:

I have since modified it to use less vinegar, and instead adding Pineapple juice to bring the Ph down. I shoot for 4.0 or lower. I've shared this sauce and still have peeps asking for it.

Thank you, Scott! What a fantastic link! There's a lot of great stuff on there and I just skimmed through it.

I agree. After this one started growing, I kept adding more purples to the roster. Lol. Thank you very much!

Trippa's original plan was to have a purple plant with yellow pods, I think. The pods didn't turn out yellow (yet?) but it sounds like a pretty awesome thing to see. I always fantasize about a purple plant with white pods, but I don't think that's even possible. (Edited to add: I meant bright white pods that stay white when ripe) I'd like to try one day though, I have some Snow White seeds laying around. I just thought of that cross too late though, so I don't have any planted this season. A project for next season maybe!

How is that Black Naga x Peri Peri going? Do you have any F1 pics?

Trippa's cross DOES have white pods...or creme colored. Here's paulG's pic:

The F2 of the Black Naga x Peri-Peri is still small...maybe three sets of leaves. I'll get a pic of that in a few. Here are some F1 pics. They both seem to grow more like a Frutescens than a Chinense.

They're a bit bigger than a Peri-Peri and about as hot. I'd think they were just a frutescens if I didn't take the seeds out of a Black Naga. Lol

Yeah, I realized that a little too late. I edited my post but it was too late to your comment, whoops. The pods on Trippa's cross ripen to creamy white, but start out purple, right? I kinda meant pods that start out white and ripen white, like on the Snow White.

Good looking plants! The F1 pods do seem to be just Frutescens, you could've fooled me with them. I wonder what the F2 is gonna bring. How many of those do you have going?

Oh, I gotcha. Sorry. Yeah, a continuously white pod would be pretty awesome. I haven't seen the Snow White yet.

I only have 2 little plants of the F2 going. I should've done more. One of them isn't looking the greatest. So I might only end up with one.
