Bhuter's 2018 Glog

Hello everybody! I'm late again to the adventures of pepper growing. Seeds didn't hit the towel until March 6, so I have some still below, some hooks, and some little plants. Not too much to look at right now but how about a growlist.

And here's the whole lot. I don't have much room...just what I can fit under a card table.

pretty sure kids these days only need to learn how to look it up

no need to study anything

member when you had to catch a bus to a library, and then hope the book wasn't checked out already
nobody left notes in the book to make it easier for the next kid
you had to read that shit

oh shit now i'm that old guy
bitchin' about how easy kids these days got it
GET OUTTA MY YARD  :!:
I DARE YA TO SNATCH ONE OF MY PEPPERS
MWAHAHAHAHA  :hell:
Holy cow! You are so right! Kids can just look it up now. Even in school on their phone. "I don't know anything without google!" Yes, I remember libraries, pencils, buses and the bast-holes on them. God I hated the bus.

Seems every generation has 'their' way to do math. My parents do it differently than I do, and kids these days are doing it different again. Don't ask me why. It's probably just some high-up bozo who thinks he has to change things just to change things, so he can put his name on under it for a generation. Anyway, luckily math itself will never change.

Heh... I'm in a similar situation. I live in a condo, and the community assigned veggie plots to the folks that wanted them. About half of the families that live here are young couples that have small kids, and their discipline is very lax to non-existant. If you're not looking, they help themselves to whatever they want. One of those parents tried to tell me that I was being irresponsible for planting superhots since their kids might pick and eat them, but I said not to worry, it wouldn't kill them and they wouldn't do it more than once. Hahah! Yeah they won't do that a second time!

I'd be nervous about a community grow, people trampling on my stuff, breaking things with an errant hose, letting dogs piddle on the plants.. heck my farm is out in the middle of nowhere and I'm *STILL* paranoid about people messing with it!

Every time some random farmer's truck pulls up I'm like "who are you and what are you thinking about doing to my plants!"

Haha! I am so with you on this. I don't want anybody around the garden without being out there, myself. Last season, my neighbor had a big pumpkin patch in a community plot with some corn rows, too. They were fine one day, then the next day, they were all dead. He said it looked like somebody poured something on them. And up until last year, I thought a community garden was a place for people to grow who didn't have a yard. I had no idea it was a place for people to go shopping. I heard that people can take whatever they want. Is that the norm?

Kids nowadays dont know how to count unless they have a calculator, no need to do Gym, Only show how to print words, almost dumb nowadays, its shocking.
Believe it or not, some years back I needed a new alarm clock and went to four stores and the kids had no idea what I was talking about, their life revolves around their cell phones.

Yeah, they do seem to be dumbing down a bit. Maybe it's just my perception of things though. It seems all they care about now is memes and games. I grew up with a computer too, but I was learning stuff from it as well. I knew how to solve basic computer problems when I was 10, but these days they can barely change their own password..

I hear ya. And I'm pretty sure the dumbing down is rubbing off on me. I, myself google/search a lot of things. I probably depend too much on the internet.

Nah... the biggest single thing I learned in college was just where to start looking for answers to your questions. 101 classes are to teach you the concepts and the jargon to be able to discuss them. You have to supply the drive and the focus after that.

That's not dumbing down, that's learning. If it's an encyclopedia or the internet, as long as you learn something new it's fine. It's just that the kids don't even look things up anymore. They just accept that they don't know it or something.

I work for a school district, for the last 18 years. Technology guy. I couldn't teach kids, I would not do well. You should see what the state of Texas expects these kids to aborb. It's insane. How about when you make a purchase? I see the total, $16.43, I hand them a 20. My brain says 57 cents make 17, and 3 = 20. They can't do it. If the register did not display the change they need to tender they would be counting on fingers they don't have.

I think my first career as an emissions tech (25 years) at a GM dealership was easier on the brain. But harder on the bod..
