Hi All

It's getting to that stage where we need to plan the next growdown.

I can supply the Aji Cito seeds, but will need to get them posted pretty quick so get voting

I also have no issue if we go with something else, but will need to order in good time as it takes ages to get to NZ

If you vote 'Something Else' post a suggested variety

Poll closes Friday 27th April

General Rules
  • GROWDOWN BEGINS 21st JUNE
  • Seeds to be started on or after start date

My Cito family.

I have already found a new home for one of them, and another will be going over the next day or so.

I have put some of the others in different spots around the yard to find a spot that they will like.

Looking great!
This will be interesting, with our seasons going in opposite directions.
Today 32 Celsius, and a week of heat to come. [emoji16][emoji41]

Nice and warm there!
Similar stuff predicted for us up in Jhb but about 6 degrees cooler on Monday and Tuesday.
Would love rain though.... everything is sprouting green but crying for water

I had 7 of them, I have given 4 away, 1 is now in the ground, 1 is going into a 52L pot, and the other will either be going into a raised bed that I haven't built yet or be given away.

I have been postponing my update and waiting for the first pod to show some color, but I think that might take some time.

I see a lot of cages going up, I will only start caging when I can decide where my plant will spend the remaining 8 months of it's competitive career.

Still split between Sub Irrigated Planter and raised bed.

39 Celsius predicted for today and tomorrow, so maybe it will bring some color to these pods.

Best of luck to all.

Looks like everyone is gearing up nicely.

Jaques - At least the Citos ripen pretty quick compared to the Amarillos. I'd say you'll have some colour in about two weeks.

Mine has been spending a couple of hours a day over the weekends out in the sun, but soon she will go outside full time (no space left in tent)

Can't wait to unleash the KAOS and do some Southern Hemisphere spankin'

Time to go to ground. Final grow space will be under 40% shade net, to keep the birds out and protect from the sun, in a 200liter sub irrigated planter, semi underground, to try and keep the roots cool.

Planter filled with homemade compost and a bit of fine eggshells.

Looks nice!
Do you find the horizontal barrel works better than a vertical one? Gives the roots more lateral growth space?

Thanks, I'm working with what I have, the barrel was an old horse trough I inherited and converted to SIP.
I don't plant directly in the ground, because it is simply to dry and all irrigation water just disappears in minutes.
Barrel buried in the ground, to keep it a bit cooler.

Glad to be finished with carrying this guy around.

Sensational plants everyone. I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race because mine are well behind your efforts!
The race is long,
I might have the heat and sun now, but my January and February temperatures are brutal and I loose a lot of flowers and pods then and only recover in April.

Caged her. [emoji16]
