P Dreadie    This is the first to ripen and a pretty good pepper:

Rocoto Marlene    This is the first C. pubescence to ripen.  What a delicious pepper!   There is another pod on the plant that is ripe now as well and will be enjoyed soon.   The plant has more pods but they, so far, are only about the size of large olives.  I certainly hope they ripen as well.  The first two grew from blossoms formed while the plant was still it's Solo/basement stage.

Thank you.

We built our house here in 1993 and are so happy with the location we chose.  We are on the edge of town.  There is a stream that runs along the back of our lot with that hillside on the other side.  The woods and hillside are part of the city park property and there is a disc golf goal just behind the white pines to the right.  Beyond the treeline at the top of the hill is the city swimming pool.

So looks can be a bit deceiving - we are not ready out of town.

Picked some delicious P Dreadie Scotch Bonnet and White Bhut Jolokia peppers today.

Seed for the former from TheGreenChiliMonster and the latter from Guatemalan Insanity Pepper.

Those White Bhuts are the "whitest" peppers I have ever had.  The taste is so clean and bright!

P. Dreadies are one of my favourites! If you like the white Bhuts try sourcing seeds from whitehotpeppers.com Justin sells a strain that is white but super gnarly. I grew them last year awesome taste and heat and it looks cool having a plants with bumpy white pods. Super productive too.

Looking good Dave!

I grew the white bhut for several years, always loved the pepper. I forgot to grow it this year :mope:

It's all about the pods....

I pulled a few peppers on Sunday.  I am really loaded right now, although some of the pubes still have now ripe peppers.  The slow start for good weather and warm nights this year slowed everything down for me.

Here is Sundays' pull:

PEZJ5La.jpg

Ethiopian Browns were dried and the Peruvian Red Rocotos were pickled

Fresno (these were pickled) and Bhut Jolokia White (dried these to make a tiny bit of powder)

rOGyulh.jpg

Aji Arnoucho (most went into a half pint of puree and a few were dried)

FmK6QZq.jpg

7 Pot Pink (dried), Red Rocoto (pickled), Aji Oro (pickled and some eaten fresh)

sGuP8aF.jpg

There is a lot more pepper produce in the garden to deal with this weekend.   Lows in the high 30's are coming next week, so my season is drawing to a close!

So how is the White Lightning Bolt going on?

Those are some of the most productive peppers I have grown.   Nice flavor, great heat.   I used some in a hot relish I made last year.  It was wonderful.

Are you growing them as well?

The curved one on the lower left would easily be 4 inches straightened out.

Very nice! I might try the 7 Pot Pink next year. I grew the Peach Scotch Bonnet and by the looks of the pods, I'd say the SB is thicker walled and less pleated than the pink. Definitely growing Aji Oro again. Great producer. Your harvests are spectacular! Great stuff! 👍🏻

Thoses 7 Pot Pinks are very nice peppers.   That picture above does not do the color justice - they are not orangey like that, but a lighter yellow with a bit of pink to it.  I like the lighter colored hots/superhots.  I think the flavors are less intense, more pleasant, than many of the darker varieties but still with a boatload of heat.

I had two or three times more peppers left that I couldn't harvest.  Nice and big,  but still too green for my tastes.  The plant had been broken off (rabbit, cat, cutworm, ?) just after planting out so it was set back quit a bit.

I will certainly grow them again, but probably not next year.  I am yearning for 7 Pot Whites again!
