Remove the dirt?

Not sure if I should post this here or in Grow Tech.

I have some seedlings I got from a local nursery that I want to put in 5 gallon pots for a non-circulating hydroponic grow using coco coir as my medium.  Is there any need or benefit to removing/rinsing off the potting soil the seedlings came in before planting?

Thanks,

No benefit unless there is problems with the soil or pests but I assume your talking small cells or 3.5" nursery pots? Ive done it both ways and really no difference, but removing the medium did come in handy when I had some soil that was causing my plants problems as it was voided of all nutrients from flushing and drenched with azamax so in that case-was worthwhile.

And then there's that too, just depends on how big your girls are and how far you wanna go with then but as Andy said I never saw any shock either way. Either way they're gonna go slow until they get that underground roots business taken care of :)
