media Coir media blends for DTW outdoor growing

I figured this would be the best place to post this, but was wondering if anyone has experimented with adding something to Coco coir pith in addition to fiber/chunks to retain more moisture to create a more consistent nutritive container media. I use a combo of coir pith 50%/fiber+chunk coir 25%/and the rest castings and perlite.

Was thinking of adding Course vermiculite, or some promix (peat)? Also because during this heat, eliminates dry spells when I can't water 3 to 4 times a day in smaller containers(I use fabric pots right now) to create an environment where hydroponic nutrients are available most of the time instead of inconsistent as goes with hand watering and the great outdoors..

For growing indoors I would see no benefit to vermiculite or peat added to the coir as much; as it takes long enough as it is to dry out before being able to feed again. Now that things are outside I really want to max out the benefits this media can provide. I never see any of the commercial companies offering coirs with added vermiculite, but I do see PT horticulture(promix products) has a blend of pear and coir+ husk chips in their "Chunk Coir blend". No ratios listed..

That is the whole point in coco coir, it dry fast so that you can add more fresh nutes available for the plants to use more often.

Right I get that but without a Drip system auto irrigation rig or giant 15-20 gal pots ull be watering 2x per day minimum as that's where I'm already at.

I would think the vermiculite or even some peat mixed in would be good with ph still while still holding onto some ppm/ec ie nutes.. I know that vermiculite is regarded for that as one of its properties, while the coarse stuff also provides drainage as well as moisture retention properties.. Would like to see if it's possible to get the best of both worlds if it's possible as I see no results on 5he web of people doing it.. Indoors or greenhouse is one thing but I tell ya irrigating 4x per day sucks when you have a ton of plants! Lol

Part of the problem too is all these geniuses decided to make tan fabric pots a rare option and practically all nursery pots are black or dk green so in the heat of the summer plus black.. You get the drift...

Definitely stoked about my most recent mix it's a hell of a blend! It's Coir city up in here with fiber, chunks, and pith as well as castings and a dash of promix to wet it up! Perlite as well :)
