seeds fail to germinate seeds? try my method

hello all my friends! do you have trouble germinating pepper seed? i will show you one of the easiest + most effective way to germinate almost all kind of any seeds.

all you need is

seed
plastic cup
plastic bag
very small amount of water
70-89F room temperature

talk is cheap. let's take a look at the result.
this is aurora pepper: DAY 7th

then use tweezer to pick up health seedlings. that's it.

my method also work with very large seeds like durian. amount of water needed depends on size of the seeds.
this is durian and jack fruit.

Looks good what do you call it? the water bag method? or maybe the water cup in a bag method?

Love it but I dont think there is a room in my house that warm during the winter. I wonder if that would work sitting on top of a heating pad.

by using this method, seed absorbes water and start to grow. it's very easy to see small root. plastic cup inside plastic bag will help seedling stand up like this.

there will be no problem of seed helmet. it's very easy to seperate sprout. worry less about seed that takes a long time to germinate... blah blah blah

it should work if you can control temperature.

Interesting method. When I was in grad school my lab worked in plants. We used to germinate in Petri dishes. Wed soak/treat seeds, then place them in the dish with a moistened piece of filter paper, seal edges with prafilm, slit a couple of holes for air exchange and put in dark drawer to germinate.

Ive wondered how well this method would work for peppers? Yours seem sort of close to that.

This method is not much different to what I do, put seeds in a tray/cup, on a towel, moisten it and then put a bag over it. I usually don't even pre-germinate peppers and plant just right into jiffies or soil. But this time, I had seeds which I saved from last year, which did not want to germinate. I tried everything, including the method similar to yours, and with one batch even added H2o2 (peroxide) since this can also help difficult seeds to germinate. After 5 weeks now, I gave up. I never had seeds taking so long respective not germinating. I just ordered new seeds, something was off with those, no idea what.

I actually have some huge jackfruit seeds and Ill give this a try. Thanks for the tips.
Ive always germinated (pepper) seeds by just placing them in the middle of 6 wet paper towells on a plate in a cupboard.
Works great but cant do that well with the big seeds like dates and jackfruit.

just let one side of jackfruit seed submerged in water, another side will have oxygen from the air. if it's fresh seed, you need to change water everyday.

with paper towel it will be more difficult to separate sprout. root hair can be easily damaged.
furthermore it will be very slow to germinate if seed has hard shell.

For hard shell seeds, there are (2) ways to do this:

1) Submerge completely in water, and watch VERY CLOSELY for the hull to crack - then remove immediately when noticed
2) Preferred method - use a small file to break through the outer shell. Doesn't need to be the whole shell, just a tiny spot

Using method #2 will reduce germination time significantly. (no matter what other method you use to sprout the seed)

How much water did you put in the cups at the beginning? Just enough to fill the bottom? Or were there dry spaces between small puddles like on day 7? Did you open the bag at any time for fresh air?

it depends on the numbers of seeds in the cup. more seeds will absorb more water. after the seeds fully absorb water the upper side of the seed must touch the air. also water will evaporate. if you put too much water, on 2nd day, you can remove excess water.
