Need advice for my Scorpion

Here are some pics of it. I got this from a nursery like 2 weeks ago and the leaves have always been light green yellow. Its growing in a 2:1 mix potting mix and chicken fert. It has never looked healthy but I finally found this forum and I wanna ask whats wrong with the leaves for it to have brown spots like those.

I see new growth on the stalk which im excited for because the current leaves look like theyre dead soon.

I live in a very sunny area in northern california. nearly 12hrs of daylight everyday.

i'm new to this too, so hopefully others can chime in, but could it be that it's not hardened off? maybe it's not used to getting full sun, and it's stressed. if that's the case, move it to partial shade. or full shade + a couple hours of full sun daily until it recovers.

Hello!
Thats what i thought but its been growing in an outdoor nursery before I brought it home and even then, its been in full sun for 2.5 weeks. Does it still need to adjust? I take it out of the sun after 10hrs.

idk what your gardening experience level is, but is this a mix you've used before on other stuff with good results? not that all species have the same requirements and preferences, but there's a lot of overlap. is it possible that you overdid it on the fert?

moving to partial shade couldn't hurt if the sun's really hammering on it.
soil looks pretty moist, i wonder if it could be overwatering
I just watered it :)

I had actually considered it was overwatering but i let it dry for 4 days and when i came back the leaves were limp. I watered it and it went straight back up. I think its too hot recently and I have to water it every other day.

Ill move to partial shade and re- evaluate. Thank you

Looks like multiple deficiencies or perhaps lockout but looks to me is lacking in sulfur or nitrogen/or both.. whether by lockout or lack of availability in the soil due to the complete yellowing of the leaf, veins included. Don't know what your feeding schedule and/or what you've been feeding it as well.. Watering is Clutch (proper watering), and excesses of other nutrients can lock out other micronutrients as well and even macros.
A lot of time people post pics like this but without all the specifics and background can be very hard to diagnose, even if it's your own plant! What is the media, media ph, what have you been feeding it, how long have you had it, etc..?
Doesn't look like a hardening off problem to me though as you would see other things like sunburn, wilt, etc. Definitely a good idea though to move it to partial shade/shade though to slow down photosynthesis and let it show you its true colors, and to slow down nute uptake as it's not going to hurt-only help especially with deficiencies. A shot in the dark without knowing anything about your plant would be to hit it foliar with some Epsom salt (magnesium and sulfur fix), and/or some kelp meal/tea/seaweed fert etc and see how it responds. By foliar you're not aggravating the overwatered situation and can deliver some nutes without disrupting an already slowly transpiring plant due to its issues. Do you have any good liquid fertilizers perhaps?

exactly what's in your potting mix? is this some storebought mix that you added chicken fert to, or is it a mix you made yourself from scratch?

if you mixed it yourself from basically nutrient-deficient components and added chicken manure to it as the only source of nutrients, i wonder if the manure takes time to break down and the nutrients are not very available to your seedling yet. maybe it's nitrogen starved for one thing.

Does not look like sun scald to me either. Just looks like a runt to me. Over watering is likely. You also need to be careful with chicken ferts too cuz they can be too hot. In any event, it's a really small plant and the likelihood of it ever producing for you before frost hits is slim.

The potting mix is just store brand. Should I repot without the chicken?

I have some fish fert available as well as epsom.

So youre saying I should try to spray some epsom on the leaves? Fish fert necessary?

Also about the watering, I tried to let the soil dry a bit for a few days but the leaves wilted after 4 days. I watered it and the next day it came back up.

Looks like it lost all of its oldest/ lower leaves.
Look at the new shoot starting at the base, its lowest leaves have the same symptom: brown tips.
Also, the remaining top leaves are puffy and yellow from overwatering.
Too hot? Move it to shade or filtered light instead of extra watering.

Sounds good Ill move it to a more shady area and water less.

Should I put fish fert in it? What dilution or full? Epsom also?

I wouldnt feed the soil right now if you just watered. In the morning, you could give it a foliar spray of fish at half strength. Some nitrogen should help it maintain, until the roots can resume normal operations.

if you used storebought potting mix, it should already have some nutrients in it even after a couple of weeks, and it doesn't sound like your plant grew much since then which makes me think it's not depleted. i don't think you need to repot it either due to the manure unless you did something weird like use way too much of it.

so in my inexperienced opinion, the possibilities are:

(most likely)
too much sun
nute lockout somehow? i wonder what the soil pH is
too much manure
the plant's just a runt / bad genes
(least likely)

I'm definitely no expert, but most of my small plants looked like that after we had consecutive storms/heavy rains. I'd guess they're probably overwatered. It could also be too much sun but I've never seen it manifest like that and mine developed that look with no location change.
