Tomato Potato Hybrid

No, I am not talking about the graft. How about taking potato pollen put it in the tomato stigma and take the seeds from that tomato and planting it.

It would need to be grafted. They can't be cross bred

They are in the same genus. And theyre about as genetically distant as a Annum and Baccatum. About 200000 years they were the same.

So am I hugely mistaken or are peppers not in the genus Capsicum? Afaik peppers are capsicum and potatoes are Solanum.

I know of people grafting tomatoes onto potato rootstocks but that's about it for me.

WAIT I completely misread this as pepper potato hybrid. I guess the mention of annuum and baccatum had me confused. Potato and tomato are definitely in the same genus, but I'd still not be too optimistic that something like that was possible personally. I look forward to any updates though.
