What does this mean...

I nursed a pepper plant back from the dead and boy did it flourish. It has grown like a weed and has been reaching for the sky ever since. As this plant has taken off, i noticed white fur on the stem and leaves. These are Thai Chilies. What does the white fur mean? I have included two pictures for reference.

My apologies, as the pictures are sidways for some reason on the forum.

has it given any pods yet?
So my wife brought this plant home and just put the small pot in the back yard and did not water it for nearly 2 years. During that time it produced a single pepper. 3 months ago i scratches the stem and found it was still alive. So i put it in a 5 gallon pot and it went crazy. It just now started blooming a ton, i would say about 20 flowers are present.

Hogleg,

I did not even think it could be a different species since my wife was told it was a thai chili plant, but i think you might be on to something. The plant is already 3 feet high and from what i read goatsweed can grow up to 4 feet tall. If it is in fact goatsweed, are the peppers hot?

If the pods turn black before they turn red it's goatsweed. Goatsweed are one of the hottest capsicum annuums there is.

Two years in a row and I can't get Goats weed to germinate. Have you found them to be difficult to germinate or is my seed stock bad?

Nah they should be pretty easy to gem. Try getting some fresher ones.
