hot-sauce The Hippy Seed Co sauce and stuff

Hi all,

I am sure most of you know of The Hippy Seed Company in Australia, I have read on here about how they are one of the reputable and trusted seed sellers. I am not sure if many of you people living o/seas have tried any of their sauces and stuff.

I recently bought some and thought I would share my thoughts on them. First time buying anything other than seeds from them myself.

I have no connection to them other than being a customer.

What I bought.

The Hot Chilli Pack

1 x bottle of Skobiyan F*****g Hot Chilli Sauce
1 x bottle of Yellow 7 Turkey Slap Hot Sauce
1 x jar of Yellow 7 The Jam
1 x packet if Ring Stinger Reaper Banana Bombs

I also bought a packet of Yellow 7 The Salt.

I have tried some of them now, and as I get around to trying some more I will share.

The first thing that I tried was the Ring Stingers.

These are pretty good. When you first put them in your mouth you taste the banana flavour with out any heat, but that starts to build shortly and keeps building. The banana taste stays till the end, but they don't get too hot (maybe not for a chilli head, but I could imagine a non-chilli head struggling with them a little).

The heat stays on the tongue and in the back of the throat for a good 10 minutes after you have finished with it.

Hard to stop at just one of them.

Last night, after a couple of beers on the way home from work, decided to try the Skobiyan.

THSC website says Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, but the label just says Trinidad Scorpian

Website rates it as 15/15 for heat, and use 1/2 teaspoon to heat up a stir fry. Take heed if you ever try this.

I reheated some left over beef stir fry and put maybe 1/2 dozen drops of this in it. The stir fry already had some bite to it from some habs, but this put some next level heat into it.

I have had hot sauce in the past that the heat overpowered the flavour, but this is not like that. Excellent tangy /savory flavour that was evident over the heat.

Had a real sweat going for a while, with a lingering burn on the tongue after it was finished.

Excellent.

I think it would be great on a steak or some ribs.

Thanks for sharing. It'd be good to hear your thoughts when you taste test this sauce on a steak and when you try the Yellow 7 sauce. Please keep us updated.

Will do as I get to each.

This morning I tried the Yellow 7 salt.

For breakfast I had toast with mashed avo and sliced tomato, with the salt on top.

I could taste a hint of the lime and that distinct yellow 7 pot taste.

I couldn't detect any heat in it though, but I did use it sparingly because the label said hot and because it is salt.

Lovely tasting, I can see me using this often on just about everything.

Yellow 7 The Jam

First impressions, straight out of the jar, lovely. Sweet as you would expect jam to be, strong 7 pot taste with a lingering burn that is not too hot. Not hot enough to make you sweat but close.

Ingredients: jam sugar, vinegar, yellow capsicum, yellow 7 pods.

I had it on a sammich with boneless chicken roll stuffed with spinach and cheese.

Excellent.

Gonna go make another now.

Yellow 7 Turkey Slap Sauce.

THSC say on their website that you won't believe there is no fruit added to this, and I can see why they would say that. The smell and flavour is there right from the first taste. Strong 7 pot taste that is characteristic of the pepper. Couldn't taste the bourbon in it.

And then, POW!!. The heat hits like a hammer. Hard lingering burn on the top of the tongue but seemed to leave the rest of my mouth alone.

They rate it for heat at 14.5 out of 15, which would put it just below the Skobiyan. I didn't think so myself. I thought it hotter and more intense. It was great fun.

Whiting fillets with cauliflower bake and veges.

I've heard nothing but great things about that Yellow 7 Turkey Slap sauce, and THSC, in general, honestly. One of these days I'm gonna put a big order of seeds, sauces, powders, etc. in with those guys. They seem like really good people; always getting great reviews from everybody. Can't say I've ever heard a negative comment about that company. Super cool that they ship to the States too

Thanks for the review, bob

Thanks Mike. They do seem to know there stuff. If you get the chance check out their you tube channel, hundreds of pepper taste test vids. They all start with "do not try this at home, I am a professional idiot".

Tonight I had the Skobiyan on a steak.

Not a steak with any fancy pants rubs or marinades, just a nice porterhouse pan fried until just pink in the middle. The way a nice steak should be cooked.

This stuff is great on the steak, it really brought out the fruity flavours in the sauce.

It is still a very hot sauce that I can feel my lips tongue and the back of my throat still tingling, but the steak kind of tames the heat.

It is like this sauce was made for red meat. My new fav steak sauce.
