Fwiw, my research indicates that Beth Boyd SB and Foodarama are one and the same; Beth collected seeds from some particularly rad Bonnets she found at a Foodarama market. I came say that for sure, but i read it in a few old threads. Either way, they both have the same compact, blocky shape and a very solid, substantial feel from the thicker walls. The ones i have been growing, from seeds i got from Trident Chilli, have a slightly more "matte" finish, as compared to the high-gloss yellow of my TFM bonnets. I feel like the Foodarama aren't quite so delicious as my other favorite Bonnets, but the physical characteristics of both pods and plants still make them one of my top picks...a true must-grow, in my opinion

We have spoken about this before and I am sure it will continue to be a debate .... putting Allens, Beth Boyds and Foodarama together could we tell the difference...similar yes but for me Allens stands out and I am happy to say the original true form prior to Steve McQueen, contacting the Jamaican Ministry of Agriculture, negotiating and finally obtaining seed of what we all know now as MoA Yellow
Worried that Allens Bonnet could be lost as I seemed to be the only one growing the variety I sent seed to Justin White who last season grew it out and placed the variety on his web site. Refreshing to read on the glogs that others have bought this variety and are growing it this season
The earliest I could find any information on Trenton Farmers Market was from a post on the pepper forum C2C November 2008 by Potawie who mentions Mark from Lawenceville New Jersey ... really pleased that others enjoy this variety
The histories and backstories are always interesting. Perhaps mainly to us, as growers. That's part of what makes this community great. Even though a pepper like the SB has mysterious origins -chinense with possible anuum cross- you can still trace the newer variants (usually attributed to an experienced grower like p. dreadie, windchicken, or like trident and anyone else helping to preserve and continue the more classic phenotypes).
I'm hoping to get the courage to ask dudemang from Sandy Acres Farm about his Bonnets. Most often, when I'm at the TFM, there's just kids (like college agreed or maybe even high school) Manning the Sandy Acres tables, but i spoke to the main guy (i think his name is Henry) one time about plants. They were selling some small plants but they were other varieties and i asked if he was offering any Bonnet plants and he was like "you know, that's a 120day plant" and i was like "yeah, i know... I grow Bonnets..." He threw me a look like "yeah right," but i just dropped it bc i was intimidated as shit. I felt like an aspiring guitarist who just got blown off by CC DeVille.... A rabid fan being summarily dismissed by a legendary idol....
But i do know that the dirtmall/ produce hub known as The Trenton Farmer's Market is actually in Lawrenceville, NJ... less than 1 mile from the Trenton border. The Sandy Acres Farm had been selling Bonnets there for years; the farm is in nearby East Windsor, NJ.
I'd like to ask the guy a few questions, such as roughly how long he's been selling/growing Bonnets, where he'd originally gotten his seeds from, whether or not he knows that SB TFM seeds are being sold and traded all over the world, etc. Before i even try to do anything so Braden, though, i was wondering if any of the other THP Bonnet enthusiasts have any other ideas on what to ask him. Basically, we have this tendency to want to divide all these yellow bonnets into separate lineages, but i know he got those seeds somewhere, and he had to order more last year, so i am hoping to find more commonalities between these stains and maybe work towards lumping some very similar stains back together...

The "courage"? Just ask him, dude, lol. What've you got to lose? Plus, you might get a really cool backstory behind everything. If he answers you, great. If he's a dick, call him a dick, and be on your way, hahaha. If he's up on a "high horse," maybe he'll come down after he realizes what a Bonnet enthusiast you are.
