Stranger at the Park Gave me Peppers

Not really a stranger, but it makes for a funny story.

Here's what I do know:

They're from Mexico. Birds like to eat them. The guy that grows them here in SoCal has a net to prevent the birds from eating them. They're pretty spicy and give me hiccups if I eat one, but the burn reduces significantly if I drink some water.

I've been grinding them up and using them in dry rubs for ribs. The have a nice burn and a smoky earthy flavor that makes them so unique. People love them.

Here's a link to a pic of them: https://imgur.com/a/sLnvjUr

What's the name of these peppers? I would like to have a reliable source for them!

In Mexico the bird pepper is pequin, which are not wrinkly unless they are a bit dried...
