chinense Ghost peppers not hot?

Is there any reason ghost peppers wouldnt be hot?

This summer I picked up a couple ghost pepper plants and carlina reapers from a nursery.
This is the first tme ive tried ghost peppers... Eight of them cooked into about four cups of sauce.
I could drink this stuff without breakng a sweat. Reminds me of tobasco sauce really.
 
Did you sample a fresh pod first? Mine were pretty scorching fresh but 6-8 pods for 10oz of sauce with some other peppers only made what most would feel is a medium heat sauce. Much hotter than Tabasco but not anywhere near the heat of fresh.
 
I didnt sample before hand, should have.
They were hot enough, while cutting them I was pretty much dying.
 
I used
7 Ghost
4 mystery pods about as hot as a Devils tounge
1 bonnet
1 very small sweet red
 
Its certainly hot but nothing mind blowing or even close. Just the tip off one of my ghosts was far more painful. I thought the flavor though was stellar. It took about a week in the fridge after making it for all the flavors to "harmonize".
