Mexican-Style Adobo Sauce ?

I never tried adobo sauce and I want to make it. I found a ton of recipes online but the problem is I do not know what kind of taste authentic Mexican adobo is . Which one is which is a proper one ?
Most recipes recommend 3 types of dried peppers, such as ancho, guajillo and chile de árbol. I do not have it here but I can find dry peppers with a mild, medium heat level and a spicy one.
That's the best thing I can do. I know it will be different because I will use the local dry peppers instead of Mexican, but it will certainly be something I never tried in my life.
I need advice, recipe or link, what I need toget an adobe that is closest to original taste.
cheers

When in doubt, trust Rick Bayless: http://www.rickbayless.com/recipe/red-chile-adobo-sauce/

Also understand recipes can change from state to state, or even household to household, etc. so "authentic" is relative. The methods may be the same but the peppers may change etc.

You got that right. Thier are many variations here in the SW within miles apart in flavor. Every restaurant has its own "authentic" and not to mention my friends Tatas all have different versions as well.
