Not trying to highjack this post but would like some comments on my simple label. First some background I'm a retired Gunnery Sergeant of the USMC. the Corps blessed me with deployments over the entire world taking out one of th arctics. This label is pretty rudimentary but I want your opinion on this face lable.

What does that moustache represent? It just reminds me of the tattoo chicks get on their finger and hold up to their lip. I don't get or like that part I think you can do better.

I needed some in that space to cover the crossed rifles as it is part of the rank. I figure if I fill it with something else it's not trademarked any more. Even though I'm not selling these the USMC has trademarked everything every emblem picture extra. Suggestions on what can go there will be welcomed.The Hot Pepper said:
What would be cool is flames that look like the USMC symbol. It already looks like flames a bit (has a campfire look if you will), with some creativity, and wisps, it could be flames that resemble the symbol, instead of taking the symbol and putting something over.
I ran this design by my wife and it needs a lot of work. She has a bachelor's degree in graphic design and still does some jobs on the side. She would love to fix it up and put something together for you at no charge as a thank you for your service to this country if you're interested.

ANYWAY!!!! back to the label....there are a few sauces/salsa with military references. I appreciate the desire to honor the service/branch. I think something can be done in the romance panel to bring that into the theme. Gunny's can be the company name, something in the text about "Gunny said it, so get off your ass and do it..."??? I don't know enough about how the jobs work to be specific.
I'm not a fan of Semper Fi as a company name or sauce name. Again, things can be worded like- Gunny's sauces stay true to the spirit of XXX-type sauce using extra hot bell peppers and a soothing blend of reapers. At the end of the blablabla end it with. Semper Fi.
Maybe some flames resembling the insignia could be worked into the background of the front panel but it needs peppers, no mustache, fruit or other ingredients if applicable....
