Hello from Bulgaria

Hi from the Bulgarian Black sea coast!
I am Alex. I am growing chilies from a while with love and passion.

Few years in apartment on a balcony and the last summer in raised beds in a small garden, not far away from the city. I have arranged it pretty late in the season, but I am satisfied with the results. Have big optimistic plans for the next season. Now trying to overwinter some plants for the first time.

Last two weeks I am building myself DIY seeds propagator with a heating mat, LED lights and temp controller. Will see what will happen.

You may look at some pics of my garden in my instagram profile here: https://www.instagram.com/alexchili/

Feel free to folllow me, if you like my photos!

Greetings from Bulgaria!

:welcome:  from England!

I will be visiting Bulgaria for the first time in January 2019.  Do you have any local varieties of chilli?  Obviously January isn't the best time of year but there's nothing I can do about that.

Hi,
You're welcome!

There is a variety, called Bulgarian Carrot, which is pretty hot, tasty and good looking, and became very popular in Bulgaria last years with the opening of few hotpepper farms in the country, which offer Bulgarian Carrot hot sause. I have seen BC seeds offered on many online seeds shops around the world too.

You may search for "Shipka"-pepper and for "Ribka"-pepper at any farmers market. These are more popular among Bulgarians, fresh and dried. Ribki-s are milder. You may find some Turkish varieties at the markets too.

Saw "Bulgarian Teardrop" seeds at Semillas.de, but have never heard for it here.
