250+ days to a ripe tomato

Charlie Grown has nothing on me. Back on February 10, I transplanted a beefsteak tomato from a nine ounce cup to a 5-gallon container. About six weeks later, on March 27, the plant developed a blossom. Alas, despite sonicating it, it fell off with producing any fruit.

Since then, the plant has gone under a 45-watt LED panel, sat in front of a window that gets direct sunlight, sat outside in the garden and, a couple of weeks ago, brought back inside.

My hard work and devoted dedication to this plant, also known as Lycopersicon esculentum, is finally going to reap dividends. After 250 days (maybe 251, depending on how quickly it finishes ripening) I will at last be able to reap the benefits and have a nice, juicy, 2 ounce tomato. Actually, I'll have two - a branch broke when I was trying to bring it inside and the one fruit on it is almost ripe. That will give me 4 ounces of vine-ripened, juicy red tomatoes that grew at the amazing rate of .01593625498 ounces per day - combined.

What a great day Sunday will be - I will savor the sweet taste and succulent juice of the golf-ball size fruit of my labors.

That is all.

Mike
