Very descriptive post, thanks.

So's you know, an anuum I grow, the Large Orange Thai, or Till Hell Freezes Over Pepper, as I like to call it, gives me a humongous bounty of pods, not one ripe one till the end of October. The one from last season is now a potted overwinter, with the hope that I can manipulate it's schedule a bit....

THAT is why I ask...
hmmmmm...

are you starting on Jan1? what are your plant out dates and photoperiod upon plant out? we may be able to devised a light plan to trick them. try 14/10 light cycle up until plant out, then what ever your photoperiod is outdoors may trigger early ripening?

At my latitude I get over 15 hours of sunup from May 15 to July 30, peaking at 16 hours on the solstice.

From Nov. 25 to Jan 15 it's less than 9 (in a window w/southern exposure). My plant out date, safely, is Memorial Day. We have had frost in June and August, it depends on the season.

My studio overwinter Rocotos are right now getting 14/10 artificial LED, are flowering like crazy but setting no fruit. Other than a few leaves dropping now and then they appear happy and healthy.

I CAN start Jan 1, but past experience has created a lot of work and space requirement. I may start a Chile Red on New Years, but only that one. My others will start in March.

I'll be comparing voters to competitors (people that get seeds and actually grow them) this year. Interested in seeing what the truth is.

Ok. I'm calling it on Sri Lanka, Chilli Red and have asked thp to edit the thread title to reflect. Voting has ended and no other names will be added to the voters list from here on out.

Stay tuned for seed obtainment instructions.

It's refreshing NOT hearing anyone cry "RECOUNT!!"

Like the Aji Lemon Drop Growdown of ought-seventeen, this will be a container grow for me. Got my Perlite and fish sauce ready, just gotta tie my Throwdown shoes.....
