harvesting Today’s harvest

I picked most of my ghosts today. 44 peppers picked, with a few more on one of the 2 plants, for a total of about 50.about 30 came from one plant. I have been trying to polinate by hand. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. They are flushing with blossoms now, so its time to polinate this week. What is the best way to make powder/fine pieces without getting pepper sprayed? I ground up cayenne once and that left both of us rolling on the floor, screaming, and mashing our fists into our eyes. What I have been doing with these is cuttung the lobes/pedals away from the webby seed holder thingy and drying them.

I have heard people say to let the coffee grinder sit for a minute after grinding so the dust will settle. I do t have any experience though

We didnt use a coffee grinder, we used an open disk grinder. The dust was airborne and you know the rest. I will ask my wife if I can use her grinder. Btw, how do you get the burn out of the grinder before using it for something else?

Coffee Grinder, Blender, alwasy let the dust settle, and I recommend getting dedicated units for peppers. Had five days of very spicy smoothies in the morning after mashing my Ghosts, soap water don't help.

Dry rice works good

I know washing my hands doesnt get the oils off. It cuts it a bit, but you can still light up your face the next day if you touch your eyes.

Dedicated coffee grinder for me, definitely.  They're cheap and small enough it's no big deal to have a couple.  But dropping $75 and the space required for an extra dedicated Blendtec carafe for sauces, that has given me pause.

I just run the dried peppers through the grinder, tap the top a few times.  Pause, then open it up.  May get a sneeze or two at times, but it beats getting maced in the face by an open grinder, I'm sure.

Nice haul on the Ghosts, Isaac!
