chinense Scotch bonnet pepper-choosing varieties

Howdy. Ive been growing peppers for a long time but Ive never grown a scotch bonnet. Is there an original one I should start with. Are the original ones red or yellow? This is the year to grow some out. Thanks!

Grow something yellow and awesome. Red Bonnets have been grown on the island since long before any of us were both, BUT any lessons learned about Scotch Bonnets begins and ends with the Yella SBs. That's the classic version. Just my opinion, but all the other opinions are WRONG.

I have never grown any scotch bonnet either and will probably make my next season a scotch bonnet only season :)
Based on the descriptions and reviews I found I chose to grow following varieties:

Papa Dreadie Scotch Bonnet (Refining Fire Chiles)
Foodarama Yellow Scotch Bonnet (Refining Fire Chiles)
Foodarama Yellow Scotch Bonnet (Semillas La Palma)
Papa Joes Scotch Bonnet (Semillas La Palma)
MOA Scotch Bonnet (Semillas La Palma)
TFM Scotch Bonnet (Refining Fire Chiles)
Stuffing Scotch Bonnet (PepperLover)

That's a killer list Marc.  Papa Dreadie at the top is probably the new-to-me SB variety I'd like to grow.

THP is definitely the place to get good Scotch Bonnet recommendations/advice.

Yes I'm really looking forward to the next season. It's gonna be a long wait! :)

MOA Red from Midwestchileheads is quite good too. It looks like he is out of stock though. I thought they were quite hot for a bonnets and production was fantastic. Tolerated our hot summers extremely well compared to the MOA yellow from CCN.

Flavor wise i liked the Pappa Dreadie the best and its production was also excellent.

I loved the Freeports I grew in 2018, but they have that very fruity flavor, tastes a lot like a BOC with only maybe one third of the heat. They don't really have that classic SB flavor profile... But the plants were strong, prolific, and they pushed out many really nice-sized, true-pheno pods. I'll grow them again.

Seems like a lot of SB varieties exist. Is there an "official" list somewhere?

Foodarama, aka Beth Boyd, is one of my top favorites. The pods' structure is just incredible. Plants are furious producers, to, although tbf, most Bonnets are pretty productive. Flavor is great on the yellow Foodarama SBs but not my top favourite.
What is your top favorite for flavor?
