I am starting an indoor grow experiment so I might as well start the new years glog at the same time. Today I threw 3 seeds in the dirt(hoping for 66% germination). I will keep 1 in dirt and 1 in Kratky. These will stay in my grow room under my 8000K T8 shoplights from the beginning through fruit.

I missed last weeks update so here it is now up through today. Here is a side by side of the original Rocoto Monzano Orange from Jan 24 when it went into Kratky and today.
And here it is all trussed up because I dont like it all spread out.
Next is Experimental Rocoto Guatamala Orange that was just kind of getting by. I decided to be proactive and end its experiment and potted it up. Within 2 days you could see it taking off and the growth in two weeks is awsome.
Next is a Rocoto Rio Haullago that recently started flowering wildly.
A Rocoto Guatamala Orange that I put into Kratky about a month ago, now has a couple of flowers.
A few more Rocoto Guatamala Orange.
A few more Rocoto Rio Haullago.
A Rocoto Riesen Yellow.
Ernest and sibling.
The latest Rocoto newcomers, various Rocoto giants.
Thats it for the pepper plants for this week, the Sri Lanka Chili Reds were posted on the growdown thread.

I woke up early this morning and thought, maybe I should start getting last seasons containers ready.

I guess I might as well go down into my grow room and stare at my pepper plants......and when it gets light out I can work on the new 4 inches of snow.

I'm north of Detroit Lakes, we have that damn white shit too....And plows that like to knock our mailbox into the ditch....

Not really anything special about my grow. A couple of plants in Miracle Grow potting soil and a couple in the very simple Kratky hydro. Tinfoil hats and theories of growing peppers and other things is what makes this country great. Bamboo antenna is just a training tool. Your grow seems to be carrying on, this may be that perfect year. You can watch mine but I dont think its anything special.stettoman said:

I thought your harvest last year was quite impressive. I envied your "facilities", and if you actually came and witnessed the wind tunnel where I am you'd more understand what it might take to keep a greenhouse or a simple high tunnel in place (in county, for that matter). Getting way behind on updates so I will do a couple of plants at a time as I move them around. I will say that several are growing faster than expected. The latest regimen must be working.
Here is the #4 Rocoto Montufar that germinated about Jan. 10., all sprawled out.
And trussed up to the bamboo antennas.
Here is #5 Rocoto Guatamala Orange all sprawled out.

I am finding that the Rocotos do not make a real good indoor plant because of the sprawling growth habit, but that said, I got em so will work with them!

It does seem like something is working. After reading on here for a couple of years how hard it was to grow Rocotos and how slow they grow I am beginning to wonder. I have a few now that I have put the bamboo stakes in to tie the branches up but they are closing in on the 3 ft tall zone already and nothing will go into the greenhouse for 3 or 4 weeks yet. Its gonna get interesting. There are pods on 2 of them so anyone wondering if peppers will fruit under Menards cheapest shoplights ......... YES THEY WILL.PtMD989 said:
