Trying to cut back on number of plants, if I do two each, that will be 24 plants. Last year, I had 34 in the raised bed, 8 in The Box, and 6 more in growbags, 48 total.

I may start some plants for friends, if they want.

Target start date is February 9.

That CPR looks sinister!

What have been your impressions of the leviathan gnarly scorpions so far?

Thanks.

The Leviathan I tried was very hot, had kind of grassy flavor, my first impression was of celery.

The plants themselves are moderate size, fairly bushy, and produce a really good quantity of pods. The leaves have that distinct rippled edge characteristic of Bhuts.

Plants really blowing up now:

These were labeled as Jamaican Hot Chocolate Habanero, but obviously are not. One thing for sure, they are HOT!:

Every year brings a surprise.

Brown Large Scorpions should be very dark brown and fairly smooth.

Just picked these off one plant. They have the correct pod shape, but are sort of bumpy, and they are caramel:

Some of the others BLS plants are also making atypical pods. Pics when they ripen.

Nice looking pods, even If not true-to-name.

My Yellow Scorpions have smooth pods with
that shape. One of my favorite phenotypes!

I wanted to post a proposal to the forum to get feedback and gauge interest.

I have been a member here since 2013, and have posted quite a few images of my grows. I grow 100% organic, and use no pesticides or herbicides.

I have always dehydrated my pods, but I find that I have accumulated several thousand, and really have no room for more.

I distain using any online payment, e.g. PayPal, because I believe it encourages dishonest people (not that any members of this forum are dishonest) to cheat, and I also feel that middlemen such as PayPal tend to drive up prices.

This will be for fresh pods from this years grow, but I might be willing to selling dehydrated pods or flakes as well in the future.

I personally pick and handwash every pod myself. I discard any pod I consider sub-standard, and I would send a pic of the pods to the buyer via PM prior to shipment.

So, I would ask if anyone would be agreeable to the following terms:

I would ship SFRB and the buyer would send cash (U.S. Dollars only, no checks, stamps, or any other tender) in return.

I will not ask a set price, but that the buyer pay what he/she considers a fair sum. Of course, the SFRB is currently $7.90, so that would be the staring point.

To qualify, I would ask that a potential buyer will;
1) Have been a member of this forum for a minimum of two years, and in good standing, i.e. have no complaints against them from other members or staff for any reason.
2) Have a minimum of 500 posts.
3) Have an address in the Continental U.S.

Furthermore, there will be a limit of one SFRB to a customer.

If you accept my terms and then do not pay, I will make sure to mention that in this forum.

At this point, I am not offering anything for sale, and this post should not be considered a solicitation. This is merely an idea.

Comments and critiques are welcome.

Here's a few comments for consideration.

I like the concept behind what you're suggesting - essentially a trust transaction between people with established reputations, thus each having something to lose if they default.  Your history on the site suggests you will send fresh pods of good quality and stand behind your product and their reputation suggests they will pay you upon receipt of the product as promised. Either party could "go first" in this instance, them trusting you by sending money first or you trusting them by sending product first.

My personal opinion, though, is that price should be established up-front. While it may seem like "pay what you think it's worth" is fair, leaving material terms open tends to create issues in practice. Once someone receives the box, it's not just a matter of what they feel it's worth, they will likely consider what you think it's worth and, because you're acting in good faith leaving the choice to them and they don't want to be perceived as taking advantage, they may pay more than they feel it's worth in order to be "safe."  Or, they may pay what they think it's worth which may be less than you think it's worth, leading to you wonder if they took advantage. Either instance has the potential to create stress. If you set the price and someone agrees to it, each party must be comfortable with the price.

Another potential problem lies with sending cash.  If the cash doesn't make it, then you can never be sure it was sent and the buyer, if they sent it, can never be sure you didn't simply take it. And how do you proceed? Do they send more cash or do you lump the loss?  More potential for stress.

There's a reason these transactions as so commonly structured as they are, i.e., seller posts pod pics and sets price, a buyer agrees to price then sends money first, by safe, immediate, and traceable means, then seller sends product. If there's a issue with the goods, the buyer should post a picture immediately upon receipt to show the pods aren't soft simply because he waited 3 days to get them out of a sweltering mailbox.  The risk becomes limited to the seller not doing his part in shipping and in that case his business will suffer by reputation. In your case, you've been on the site long enough that most buyers would understand you have something to lose from not being a responsible seller.  Any if you wanted to sell only to those with an established history with this site to reduce the risk of BS, that's not unreasonable.

Anyhow, that's my $0.02.  I think what you're suggesting shows good character, but I'm not convinced it's the best way to do things.

Oh, and great looking pods in the pics above!

@CaneDog,

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, the possibility of payment being lost in the mail is one major flaw, and would need some sort of reliable solution. I have no answer for that which does not add more cost, and place more burden on the buyer, which I would absolutely like to avoid.

With regard to the set pricing, I really have no idea what is a fair price, even after looking at what others are charging, since prices vary considerably (percentage-wise), and it is sort of an apples-to-oranges comparison.

You have given me more to think about. I appreciate it.

I haven't used it, but isn't Paypal's Friends and Family option free of charge?  I see people use that here.  My understanding is the risk connected with Paypal allowing the free transaction is that the buyer has no protection in the event of seller default, but in your case you have an established reputation on the site to support you being trustworthy.

However you choose to do it I hope it's a good experience.

I have not had a problem with Paypal up to this point, whether selling or buying, particularly because the vendors I have dealt with were legit.  With any platform, there can always be questionable people (especially when you are the seller), but that platform has not failed me yet.  Nonetheless, I understand your concern and desire for old-school, which I am OK with when dealing with trusted people.  Let's let this one simmer a bit and see what the rest of the brain trust thinks.

Sort of lost interest at the end of the season, let several hundred pods go, but harvested close to a thousand and dehydrated them, except for several nice CPR pods, which I harvested seeds from.

If I were to sell some of the seeds, what should I ask for, say a pack of 10?

Hey, Al, nice hauls of some real beauties!

The CPR seeds pods are stunning. Picture perfect!

If you sort the seeds well so there are no clinkers, I
would charge $2-$4 for a pack of 10 and throw in
a few extra.
