Rain stopped for now, put down a few layers of fabric, need to get garden staples for them, had some wire around that I bent into shape to anchor the sheets.

Onions from last year doing real well, looks like the trick is plant onions in the fall before winter.
Red onions I planted are coming up now, that was quick, guess the rain helped.
My four year old transplant rhubarb finally looks healthy and ready to go.

Looking good DF. That dark fabric should really help to dry and warm things up in a hurry. Glad to see you able to start prepping for plant-out.

And those onions look great. My Walla Walla onions left over winter are doing well too, but not that well!

Thanks! still dont know when to plant my main stuff, -1c tonight , next Friday 8c+, so maybe in a week I can plant, will put some beet seeds in the next couple days.
Also I hope my onions are bigger then cocktail onions like they were last year. Put all my kitchen scraps in that side of the garden so hope it does better this year.

Yep. If you plant too early, it can be a disaster. But if you wait until you're 100% safe, well, you can miss a good bit of opportunity in a limited season. Tough choices.

Hope the onions are bigger for you this year too. Mine tend toward a small-medium size, smaller than ones at the stores and markets, but big enough to work with.

Red Onions growing fast, thanks day long rain. Weeding's a pain but the Garlic is clear now, threw in a bunch of Dill seeds.

I'm surprised how wet it has been in the hat. I think it has rained twice for a total of a quarter inch here. Much drier. I like looking at your garden much better DF.

Finished covering the garden, perfect to the last sheet, didnt have to cut anything off.

Hope to plant Beets tomorrow and some tomato. Picked up some Eggplant Plants, five, will plant them tomorrow.

Supposed to have thunderstorm today instead about 10min of rain.

My Thai Basil from last year, over wintered him and happy he survived. Will keep him in the pot, last year was in the ground.

No I havent, the Casidy tomatoes I grew last year has become my favorite, super sweet.
Their going in the ground tomorrow including the Romas and San something lol
Hit 32c today in the shade, no fun, the veg are out in the sun hardening so should be fine to dig in tomorrow.

A few years back, I grew that whole "Artisan" Tiger and Bumblebee series. While they were all productive, I found nearly all their growth habits to be a bit on the "whispy" side, if you get my drift. Definitely needed help in the support area all through the growing season as none had a particularly strong main stem, including Bumblebee.

After that season, I only grew the "Blush," "Green Tiger" and "Sunrise Bumblebee." Sunrise may be a good addition to any hot sauces you may have planned, as it has a somewhat tropical flavor, as opposed to a traditional tomato-y flavor. After you've had a chance to harvest and taste them, I'd love to hear you opinion of the variety.

I have cages on all of them and add additional suport on top of them

Planted the rest of my Tomatoes, Casady and Roma. Just have my Butternut squash to plant, the corning still needs to be weeded, other then that most is done.

Cranberry plants doing well.

Done for the day, back wont do anymore

You can see the haze from the smoke of the BC fires.

Onions doing awesome, Bees are about but not too many.
Turmeric transplanted.
Key Lime having fruit.
About 5 tomato plants now have fruit.
Rhubarb are huge.
Arctic Poppy also blooming

Oregano Bushes nice and Big.

Weather still not cooperating, hot, cold, hot.

Orach doing well, found out its a Spinach alternative if Spinach wont grow properly. Brilliant colors. Garlic nice and Big.

Lucked out and found Coffee plants at Rona, $4 each

Neighbor having visitors, real happy I dont get them anymore, got lots in the front lawn, sometimes 5 at a time.
