in-ground Flavor difference between growing in the ground vs. containers and fertilizers

Has anyone noticed any difference in pepper flavor from plants grown in the ground vs. grown is containers? How about a difference in flavor when using organic vs. chemical fertilizers?

I pulled this from wikipedia:

The different varieties are unusually sweet compared to other onions due to the low amount of sulfur in the soil in which Vidalia onions are grown.

Oh hael no!  Onions are the 2nd best allium around!  :)

To the OP -

I've not tasted the difference between ground/container plants but I have definitely tasted the difference between plants that got enough water during fruiting versus plants that were water deprived (stressed) during fruiting.  The stressed plants produced markedly hotter fruits that had more bitterness and/or floral tastes than the well watered ones.

I cant give an answer to all the questions but there are taste differences.
Heres why: local grower here gave me one of his Aji Bolsa de Dulce peppers and it was fantastic, so he sold me the plant and the peppers were not as good as his. The difference was that he used his compost tea which was brewed correctly and used more often plus his worm castings that he used which I didnt. There is a difference when nutrients are lacking or from different sources. As for organic vs synthetic ferts I cant say.

Whatever the healthiest medium is , is what will give the best results.
I agree with this. While I can't comment on taste - I grow tasty peppers in both pots and in ground - there are different stress factors to growing in pots that I've observed may produce different results - fewer pods, vibrancy of color. By stress, I mean over/under-watering, too much sun, oops I forgot to fertilize.

I doubt that you'd notice the difference in a blind test. Freshness is what matters. I am very good at tasting and taste wine, olive oil regularly and can tell what type of wood was used to smoke bacon by tasting it. I've grown greens in the ground and hydroponically and can't say I've noticed any difference
