Crazy tomato seedlings

Some of my tomato seedlings are doing some crazy stuff. This one is A Grappoli D'Inverno. I have some Amish Paste that did the same thing. I germinated under a humidity dome at 82-ish. These seeds popped quick and shot out like silly string. As soon as they pop, I move them into a light chamber with plenty of light. This one is probably 5 days post emergence.

What causes this? Some of my starting containers have a normal sprout along with one of these string plants.

Should I just go ahead and plant this one deep?

That's a shiny quarter in the picture for size reference.

Try germinating them with overhead light so they have light as soon as they pop and see what happens. I have noticed in the past that tomatoes can get leggy FAST.

They go right into this thing with 7950 lumens @ 4100k. My pepper seedlings always do very well in there. Never seen a pepper baby do anything like that.

I've definitely seen some photos here of peppers doing something similar. Tomatoes are way worse though. Maybe you didn't notice that it sprouted and it went a few days without light. The color of the cots is a very good indicator besides the obvious lanky sprout. As fast as they sprout,I would resow. That's just me though. You can probably get away with planting it deeper. lol

Thinking back, maybe I did leave some of these in the dark too long because of helmets. I actually took the picture of this string Friday. It still doesn't look any better.

Not a big deal, I have enough good sturdy sprouts, plenty of seeds and I don't need very many plants. I got these varieties from Baker Creek. Supposed to be 25 seeds to the pack but they sent me more like a hundred in each pack. I think I'll go ahead and plant more seeds with the strings and let them germinate in the light to make more. I'm wondering about my "coated" Ferry Morse seeds that look like they may never pop. The packs say 7-10 days. I planted those on the 17th and no signs of life yet.

I never knew peppers were so easy.
