Is hot/spicy food an addiction?

You know it seems to me that all this hot stuff is an addiction. I have to get a "fix" at least once a day.
Yesterday I was on the road and dropped in taco bell in a vain attempt to get a fix. I tried the "volcano taco" which reminded me more of a camp fire even after I laind their fire sauce on it really thick. I thought this is false advertisement LOL. I bet myself or anyone here can school them on how to make a "real" volcano taco lol
What in it makes this so addicting? Sometimes I cant get a good enough "fix" and it disappoints me alot

To put it simply, Yes. It is indeed an addiction. I almost get the DT's if i dont get a 'fix' EVERY day....and more than once a day to boot.

Sorry had to take a shot of fatalii fire before I could post this, damn hands were shaking. Yes, it is an addiction. Nah, its a NEED!

Sure is an addiction. Before I found this site and started growing my own stuff, I used to run around like a crackhead looking for his rock. I'd go to stores looking for new and hotter sauces. I learned long ago that taco bell is crap. They aren't false advertising, because they are saying that their stuff is hot for the average person not chileheads. The only thing taco bell is good for is a vessel to put your own sauce or peppers on.

Addiction? Maybe. Lifestyle? Definitely. I grew up eating spicy as my folks were Bo-Hunks that through the military wound up in Texas and soon enough became assimilated into the TexMex Borg collective. These days I cannot eat a meal or even a snack of any sort without hotsauce or chile's. I can quit whenever I want to. Really. I don't have a problem. I'm serious. I am not an addict nor have I ever thought of seeking physical or psychiatric help for my nonproblem. I have never been out at two in the morning trying to score a lid of habs. Okay once! But just once.

Cheers, TB.

it is not an addiction but more of a part of you .

addiction is when you have to have somthing to survive be it mental or pysical .

you can eat without hot and go on with your day but you simply like the heat and flavor of hotsauce peppers ect .

my father in law is addictided to smoking and can not function without it and will wake up in the middle of sleep to smoke so he can sleep!!!!! that is messed up.

you all can be a cool by saying it is an addiction but you are wrong !

you just really like hot and that is OK.

I have three bottles of my last good batch of sauce in the fridge that I didn't pressure can. At least once, and usually twice a day I go all Neil on them and get out a spoon and get my fix.
My spoon is just a teaspoon, though, not the legendary dessert spoon lol.

My dealer says it isn't! He has my credit card though... ;) j/k

That Thai guy in the local Asia shop here approached me when I took four of those little bags of habs of his fridge and told me "They're extremely hot!" I told him that I wanted to stuff them, wrap'em with bacon and fry them. So he looked at me scared as if he didn't want to be held responsible and told me "But they're EXTREMELY HOT!" Then he shook his had and turned away.

I would have to most definitely agree with that. I'm not a big fast food guy, but I'll actually go to Taco Bell just to get some stuff to put my hotstuff on. I remember one time I went there with my little sis and when we sat down to eat I whipped out my Lethal Ingestion Sauce. She gave me a wierd look laughed and said why doe's that not suprise me:lol:. Speaking of which, I should get some taco's today and put some Naga Powder that I keep at work on it....Sounds GOOD!!
