Butch T pepper plant, odd patches on leaves, Can anyone help me?

Hi there,

Im new here ^ so sorry if this is in the wrong place maybe. I was looking for some advice about my little butch T pepper plant. I'm very new to growing plants, but I've wanted too for ages, I saw the local pepper shop was selling a Butch T pepper plants so I bought one a few weeks ago, and it has looked pretty good so far, growing fast and happy.

I noticed about 2-3 days ago though, these patches started to appear on the leaves, I can't figure out what it might be, if anyone has any idea or suggestions? any help would be appreciated.

I've read all kinds of information online ranging from underwatering...overwatering .. mildew ? bacteria? disease ... remove the infected leaves, more sun ... I really have no idea how to narrow it down. There are some tiny brown spots, some with white patches in the middle and the tips of the leaves are starting to brown. I've inspected the plant thoroughly and can find no evidence of bugs/insects whatsoever.

Personally I don't feel like I'm watering it enough, but the soil seems constantly pretty damp and water runs right through. I've been watering very little every 3-4 days. I noticed while poking around at the soil, it looks as though it was grown in a jiffy pellet ?  :eh:  could that be causing problems?

(ps, the leaves aren't as yellow as they appear in the photos ^ that's just poor room lighting)

any advice would be appreciated.

There's your issue right there, you see the problem but are too inexperienced to realize it.

You're still over watering.

You have a local pepper shop?  That's pretty cool!

I agree with The NE ChileMan it's probably that simple.  No sign to me at all of any pests/bacteria/fungus/virus type things.  Having purchased a plant grown elsewhere, I'd probably re-pot it into a new soil mixture that I had confidence in and get a look at the roots and their health in the process, but if you're new to growing you might be best off just adjusting the watering, at least for now.  The medium looks to me like it's mostly peat.  You might start thinking about a nutrient feeding plan going forward together with the adjusted watering.

Yeah, It is pretty awesome. I will actually miss the shop when I move (Moving to Eastern Europe end of the year, so I'm hoping I can learn more about growing my own peppers). They don't often sell fresh peppers though, usually dried peppers, sauces, preserves and plants/seeds. Although, there is also a Caribbean market place nearby which sells fresh peppers all year round, so we are quite lucky.

Thank you for your advice, I have recently bought some "tomato food" but I haven't used it yet. Hopefully the plant will heal ok.

So, I have reduced watering -been checking that the soil is dry before watering, but I think the problem has gotten worse :0 !

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've noticed that the plant has grown a little, but now all the leaves have these large blackened patches. I'm sure it is not still overwatering the plant, I've watered it once since (and not too much).
