catchthebear 2019

Hello everyone.

It's my first time posting a grow log here, so if I do something wrong please yell at me.

I finally had time to put together a list of all the peppers I have started this year.  I also relabeled every plant with giant labels using a grease pencil.   I'm tired of running into mystery plants halfway through the season!

It's a busy time of year at work for me, but things are finally starting to slow down a hair.

Still haven't pushed my babies out of the nest yet.  Had some hail a couple days ago that scared me off putting them out.  Maybe next week. :)

I plan to put about half of them in the ground and the other half in pots.  Would like to be able to easily isolate certain varieties when they start flowering.

I've also decided that this is my last year using the double cup method.  Big pain in the ass.

Still looking for some Tovarii seeds too. Don't intend to start any more seeds this year, but hope to run across some before next season.

Hope everyone has a good season ahead.
Cheers,
Matt

Yeah, your flex pods are looking great.  None of mine have even started to develop after pollination.  Your plant is significantly bigger than any of my standard flex's.  The rest are looking solid too - big leaves on the Tubocapsicum!  Can't wait to see those crazy little pods.
Yeah, I'm excited about the Tubocapscicum.  Tried last year without any luck.  I have another 3 plants floating around here somewhere, so with those odds I hope to see some pods :)

Nice going Matt..That's a nice  flower on that Kangaroo Apple..love the color.
Cumari Pollux is a favorite wild...it takes a while to get going..but once going  ;)  it gets....lotsa pods.
Length of plant so opposite of C. Do para...
I noticed a few of my wilds are not tolerating the excessive heat,so I brought them indoors till Monday,
when temps will revert to a more acceptable range.

Yeah, I like that Kangaroo Apple too.  First time I've grown those.  I have another variety that is about a third of the size flowering right now too.  Heard they don't taste very good, but we'll soon find out.

The Pollux I have in the ground has quite a few pods on it already.  That one I shared a photo of is in a pot.  Might nix that whole pot idea for next year.  Doesn't seem to be worth all the extra trouble so far and the plants in the ground are a bit further ahead than the potted up ones.

The tubocapsicum anomalum do not seem to like much sun, and appear to love the shade.  The one lanceolatum I had outside didn't seem to care much for a lot of sun either, so hopefully he'll recuperate in the shade.  The one I have inside seems to be doing really well in my grow tent at the moment, so that's where he's going to live for now.

The rocotos I have seem to be doing fine.  Surprised me, as I've always heard they like cold weather more.

Always learning

Thanks for posting that. Pods like that are pretty rare. I found a reaper like that last weekend but it wasn't so pronounced. I should have taken a picture but I was all gloved up and several hours deep into processing peppers for dehydration. I just sliced it and carried on after showing it to my wife. She recognized it as a "siamese pepper".

Who's Dragon Breath did you get? I got mine from CCN, supposed to be a Pepperlover strain. Pretty happy with mine so far.
I got my seeds from Bohicia Pepper Hut.    You can see some of the pods are pretty gnarly and some of them are small and smooth.

Edit:  The small/smooth ones ripen first and none of them have had seeds inside.  Bit odd?  Not sure.

Just curious, but does anyone know why when I upload an image via THP.com it is resized to such an extreme degree?

IDK, but I just started uploading to the site and I'm curious if there's any way to avoid this. I already reduce the resolution on every picture I post, but there are many for which I'd like the thumbnail to link to a higher resolution pic as I've previously done third-party. I haven't noticed any material difference between the thumbnail and the full version.
