pod Supposed to be jalapeno

Hey guys, I'm a bit surprised by this plant I grew from seeds that were sold to me as jalapeno.

The plant is clearly an annuum, but the pods don't seem to get any larger than this.

Also they're really surprisingly hot. I was blown away by the heat, and so were several of my coworkers.

I don't have any ripe pods yet, but any idea what these could be? Are there jalapeno varieties that are just a lot hotter than usual?
 
I guess they are jalapeños just really short ones

I'm still shocked by how hot they are. Maybe I'm just sensitive to them for some reason, but I'd rather bite a habanero than one of these
 
Some can get pretty nasty hot, and others look scary and be lambs on the heat scale.  The plant health and history all counts, but how does one tell until you get a pod to cut into?  Think they look wonderful, and when they get red and wooden-up a bit, that's chipotle country.
 
As far as differing heat levels go...... Many years ago the wife and I bought a few Jals, sliced them up together and used them on some tacos. We were amazed how our moths lit up....But not every bite indicating it was one that had the intense heat and not the others.
 
Edit: It was so intense I even remember it was that stinging burn, like ice picks on your tongue, not that whole mouth burning sensation.

I wish these pods were bigger so I could stuff them, but they do have good flavor and are productive
 
definitely Jalapenos, there are more variations of Jalapenos than any other pepper I'm pretty sure.  When I first started growing peppers I was shocked at how hot a FRESH RIPE Jalapeno was.  So much hotter than any I've ever bought.  If they're too hot, cut out the ribs and seeds, that'll help.  If it's still too hot, cook them, even just a few minutes on the grill will reduce the heat a good bit.  I would put my Jalapenos up against a grocery store bought Hab any day in heat.
