SBS Purple Ornamental

I searched and read several threads and didn't find a satisfactory answer so I'll post this.

I was given some of these seeds this year and have one plant growing nicely.  A very pretty plant.  Blooms are purple.  The leaves have a purple shade to them and the small peppers are purple at this time.  I understand they go through several color changes before reaching red.  Here is a pic I copied from someone else's post from several years back.
I would like to know if you can eat these ornamental peppers?  The closest answer I found said they taste like a typical ornamental annum.  Well, that's pretty vague for a newbie like myself.
Should they be eaten?
Are they edible?
Or is this strictly an ornamental.  It is a very pretty plant.  I'll will definitely try to overwinter this one.

Nice pic by the way!  My camera wouldn't do justice like this!

Yes, all peppers are edible, although ornamental varieties as a whole are not really known for their outstanding flavor. Many of them are fairly bland, and some can even taste a bit bitter. They were just bred and selected more for their beauty than for the heat and flavor of their pods. Personally, I found the SBS Purple Ornamental to be a bit too floral (a perfume-like taste) for my liking. But the pods I tried were still in their purple stage. Maybe red would have tasted better. But by all means, try it for yourself and see what you think. Different people have different tastes, and your opinion may be completely different than mine.

Juanitos' site has a nice photo showing the color changes the pods go through here: https://juanitospeppers.com/product/SBS-Purple-Ornamental-Seed

Thanks for the informative reply BlackFatilii.  I will definitely give them a try.  I checked out the juanita's link for the pics.  Pretty good.

agreed  +1  Ornamentals are just as edible if you like the flavor, they are just generally bred and selected more for their beauty than for their taste usually.
(this does not mean they will not make a beautiful bottle of colorful pod spicy vinegar, or a colorful flake, etc. there are still plenty of uses,)
in my experience, most ornamentals tend to have a high seed/flesh ratio and this made them less palatable in and of itself.
I have seeds for this varietal, but have not actually grown it yet myself. so i don't have much to offer as far as info about the plant.
