First time growing Chili's in Florida

Hello everyone. I recently moved to middle Florida (on the gulf west of Ocala) from the Youngstown, Ohio area. I had a successful garden and many outside plants there. It was simple. They sprouted in the spring and died back in the winter. Nothing like Florida where I am not sure what does what when. The fact that Habanero Pepper bushes can be 5-6 foot tall amazes me. Any advice on this will be helpful. Heck any advice on growing anything in mostly sugar sand would be wonderful!!!
